DISCLAIMER: I take no responsibility for your actions in duplicating this modification and/or repair. Nor am I responsible for any bodily harm or property damage you may cause. This was done on the front drive shaft. DO NOT ATTEMPT

broke a bolt off in the front yoke changing the U-joints, the hole was a through one so I drilled it and it's opposite out for 1/4" bolts and ran them all the way through. Since I never use 4x on blacktop roads unless it's bad bad and never go over 45 in 4x I figure what the hell. if it breaks on me it will likely be at the mud pit and by then I'll have the money to replace the whole thing. The rear one is a different story, since that one is a safty issue it will be replaced fully. I hate to do it to the front but I figure since the front shaft is stationary while in 2x I'll be alright as long as I watch my speed while in 4x. which, like I said, is only used when absolute needed and not very fast at that.

I'd put some locktite on there and cut off that bolt a little shorter. Is that a grade 8 bolt?

There is locktite on it. No, it is not, thats just enough to move my truck around the yard without rwd. As soon as I get rwd fixed I'm going to Tractor Supply and getting grade 8's

I hope you find a proper replacement, and Id really get a new stronger bolt. It looks like I could chop that in half with wire cutters.

I replaced the bolt thismorning, found a yoke, $25 :happy107: The bolt I used must have had a defect, broke off. Said **** it, took the yoke to Midas, guy said if he don't get to it tonight, he'l get it tommarow. $25 to get the bolt out if he can't get it out he'l drill all 4 all the way out to 1/4" and have the machine shop drill-balance it for no extra charge. said ok. I figure for $25 it's cheaper than replacing broken drill bits and easy-outs and taps.

Grade 8 bolts are considered some of the most durable and reliable one can find, good thing it didn't break and cause an accident.
