Hey ya'll. I've got to replace my front axle, and just curious as to a few things.

I've got a buddy who bought a roller v10 2500. He's willing to sell me the axle for $250, but I need to know whether its a 44 or a 60&what ratio it has. Curious as to whether you guys know whether it must be a 60 since this was a v10, if there are any ways to tell the gearing by just the axle or?

IIRC all 2500 axles are Dana 60s. You should be able to tell what it is, most of them have labels on the axle somewhere that should tell you everything you'd ever want to know.

BTW, dunno if this is useful to you but I found a swap thread here:

Yes hambone did a good job.

No there is not one on here and there should be, I have one part done but not to sure when if ever it will get finished. So make one up and go for it.

V10 will be 3.55
DSl will be 3.55
V8 gas 2500 will be 4.10

-1 =3.55
-2=4.11

Shoot, ill have to look around some more then if this axle can't be fixed. Getting underneath her, you can twist the driveshaft going into the front axle freely, but from what I've heard from a buddy, the pin just might need replacing if it's not grinding inside. hopefully the teeth aren't all sheered off but we'll find out for sure sometime this weekend.

LOL, just swap in some 4.10s into your rear axle, it'll make it more fun!
