Alright guys I've been thinkin bout this for a long time. Don't know if I can afford it or how hard the job would be but I'm extremely interested. Any know the procedures it takes to do a complete cummins swap? What needs to be done electronically? What's the best trany an motor match? 4bt or 6bt? I'm lookin at as much info as I can get. Any info would be extremely helpful but the more the better since I've never done it. Don't know if I'll actualy b able to but I realy want to. And does any one have any preferences on year of motor? I'll take any info u guys got. Thank y'all very much

This swap has been succesfully in other forums, while it is extensive, it's not impossible.

I would suggest you do a search online and gather as much information as possible.

There is allot involved , cheaper to just but a CTD in the long run . Not only do you need to fit the CTD in your truck with a trans and computer you will need to upgrade your entire front suspension and fuel system .

Personally I'd think you'd be better off buying a 2500, even one with body damage and swapping your 1500's body parts on it.

Thats actualy not a bad idea cause I know it would be easier to but another truck I just have grown an attachment to my truck over the short time that I've had it.

Its not worth the hassle when you can just buy another truck. Now if you had something that wasn't a Dodge then it may be worth looking into doing.

Since it's from another forum:

So as a few of you heard, some may not have believed, Im doing a diesel swap in the ol' 2nd gen. Well a few weeks ago I finally bought the "donor" truck, a 95' 12v. I've been without my truck for over 4 months now and she's FINALLY undergoing her special "treatment". Just thought I would share with you all her progress. She should be done with the swap by end of next month then she will go back for bags :)

Another thing they said:
the frame is the same on both trucks and all mounting spots are identical

get ready for a whole new set of skills to learn. not just the swap-side, but tuning, etc. Don't even think about putting a stock automatic trans in, as you'll be rebuilding it in short order.

BTW, that blue mega dually is the cat's meow! ^^

It will bolt up but you need new front suspension, the computer, custom drive shafts, new fuel system, and a **** ton of time. I looked into this already.

Which is why he should definitely find a donor truck somewhere.

Really not worth it since you can buy one
It can be done though. I helped a friend swap a 4bt into he's CJ and it was a pita not to mention all of the paperwork that had to be done afterwords
