first, wrong generation. You want 2nd gen.

2nd, if your truck is a 97 as your info suggests, it is OBDII.

It should clear after a few clean startups. Or maybe disconnecting the battery, not sure on your model.

Maybe needs a scanner or a tuner to clear it. On the 03 OBDII you can use a SC and Interceptor gage to clear. plus others ....

unhook the positive battery cable, touch it to a ground(not the ground post on the battery) like the alt/ AC compressor or whatever is closest for 30 seconds to discharge the caps in the PCM. leave battery unhooked for 10 minutes.

If it's still on after that, you have something that is actively throwing the code. And if it is EVAP related, its probably a purge valve stuck because the only way a MIL for EVAP can illuminate on startup is if the EVAP fails the self test, it wont notice a leak that fast.

Well i took it to O'Reillys today. There scanner pulled up 6 codes all of which werent code 32 which is what the key flip is throwing. It through 02 sensor, asd, spark control, and two batt codes low voltage and something else regarding spark......
The scanner wouldnt clear it either.
