2000 ram sport. 3.55 rear end. I am working on repairing the rear end and am having some issues. Thought somebody could help.
I have damaged the spider gear shaft, top n bottom spiders which led to missing chunks of teeth on ring and pinion gears. So far i have pulled spiders and axles but cannot gdt main rear gears out. Bearing caps are off and rear is loose but wont come all the way out. Pinion shaft is also loose. Any help on getting the gears out and what caused the spider shaft to break...twice?

you have to back the adjuster nuts off all the way, there are no shims, the adjuster nuts fit over the carrier bearing shafts. you can back the nuts off with a small flat head, but i strongely recommend using a adjuster nut tool. i made mine out of a piece of 1" emt with a large nut welded on one end and a socket on the other. you put it in through the axle tube on each side.

the adjuster nut:

the tool:

you are going to want this for setup and assembly as well

i just did mine a couple months ago, went through the same thing.

That has to be the hang up. Everything is loose. Even pinion shaft is ready to come out. Ring gear is loose but only comes out about 1/2". Then hits a wall.

What size is the nuts. Guessing 1 1/4"??

the nut is a tow ball nut, had to grind it down to make it fit on the inside of the adjuster nut. it was a life saver when doing the setup and final assembly, glad i could help, i was stuck on the same thing.
