i was driving my truck today and i was going p a hill when i had the gas all the way down my rpm just kept dropping so i shifted down and it still happen and the my engine light came on with the code p 0123 what should i do?

so if i change that do you think that my problem climing up the hill would be fixed?

Just an idea, but maybe the cat might be clogged... that's what I'm thinking with my truck right now, it lowers overall engine performance and I read a few things that said the exact thing that you are and they had a clogged cat

Check your cat to see if its glowing after you have driven it, then you will know if thats plugged or not

Do you have a code reader, or a tuner that you can hook up to it? Then cross reference the code. But I am 99.9% sure its for the TPS. It might not be a bad idea to do a full tune up.

Yes. There would be no other reason for it to get hot enough to glow

it is the tps i just looked the code up. i also have all new wires,plugs,cap and rotor i just put them in about 3 weeks ago when i bought the truck

yeah but i had it in upside down so i went to go switch it and went to pull off the blug the thing sprung open

Yup mine did that too. Need to go pick up a new one. They aren't that expensive. I tried to repair mine after it popped open yea that didn't work. Best to pick up a new one.

the one that broke was brand new but i picked one up today. appearently they have a warranty

On the clog cats, just put your hand over the tail pipe and feel if there is pressure from the exhaust fumes......if not u got yourself some clogged cats
