Hi all. I have a 98 1500 4x4 that I have intermittent problems with the security system on. It had an aftermarket keyless entry/security system installed when I bought it and I removed that. But now every once in a while the stock security system kicks on for some reason. I can start the truck and it will run for a few seconds. And after a while of fiddling with things it will just start running again and act normal. Can anyone please point me in the direction of permanently fixing this problem.

You could try pulling the security system relay under the hood.

I tried pulling the relay. I somehow got it going again. I don't know what I did to rectify the issue but it eventually cleared itself. I just don't know what to do in the future to keep this from happening and leaving me stranded.

The stock security system should only activate with a door open and after activating the power locks twice in short succession, with the remote or the door switch. If removing the relay did not stop it, then there has to be something leftover from the aftermarket security system. Recheck all your wires and consult the fsm for wire diagrams to verify everything is connected where it should be.

I'd like to know how to disable the system completely as well. I have an aftermarket remote start system, which does locks too. If i lock the truck in a factory way (via inside door switch, or key in door) then use my remote start system to do anything, the alarm goes off until i unlock with the key in the door.

I did some research on mine it doesn't have any problems but i was looking it up due to other problems, there is a black box somewhere under the dash that is the brain of your security system, rip the ***** out? IDK
