I appreciate the kind words guys. I'll post more pics as soon as they are available. This evening I need to start machining a flange for one end of the elbow to mount to the turbo.

That's what we call a real DEER STRAINER... The deer is strained out before it reaches the grill. :naughty:

Don't laugh, but I've had 3 instances of deer and dogs that were almost halfway across the road when they saw me coming. They went back the way they came. I figure they were afraid of the bumper or the exhaust note ROFL!

Started machining the flange for the elbow. I use an old 1936 Reed-Prentiss lathe for this machining. If you have the patience, she still works just fine, just ask Mopar1973man. The mounting flange needs to be 4.4-4.75" OD, 4" ID, .290" thick, and tapered to .150". Taper can be no longer than .120" with my setup.

lookin forward to seeing this done... I really wish I could do this kind of stuff

Don't sell yourself short Texas.....if I can do it, anybody can :). The only stumbling blocks you might run into is the equipment, like a welder, grinder, etc.

lol I wouldnt do this kind of project on my truck(gasser) but it is a really sweet project. youre right on the equipment, i dont even know how to weld. But im takin a class in school next year where I can learn how to weld, and my dad said he might buy one because hes always wanted to learn lol

Learning how to weld is a big part of being self-sufficient. In other words, why pay someone to do something that you can do yourself? :)

So cost wise after your time into that elbow how does it compare to a pre-bent one?
Whats the thickness of it after grinding?
Probably saved some room since it looks like a tighter radius then you could ever bend

I'm not sure of the cost factor.....I don't worry about that too much, because I really enjoy making my own things(like my homemade fuel pin and existing exhaust system:)). Current thickness of the elbow tubing is now .082.

Roger that Stang! I'm thinking about making my own also, hope to be able to start that project before the end of March. I would start it sooner, but IdahoTurboDiesels.com is sponsoring a dyno event on March 17th, and I've got to finish this stack, cut a more aggressive fuel pin, and a few other issues with my truck before then. I've never ran any vehicle on a dyno before, and I'm really curious about the power this truck makes :)

I found a hallway(lol) at school that has a metal brake and rollers in it so I may even try to bend an air box as well but I need to find a filter I want to use and get measurements (maybe next week while I'm home for spring break)
For the torque tube I was planning on rolling a piece of sheet metal around a 2lb coffee can since finding 5.5" OD tube is hard but I'm thinking the rollers might be a better idea haha
