Anyone with the Aisin with the rear aluminum heat sink cover having it, or had it leak?

My personal '14 has less then 40k on it and it's already developed a leak. None of my '15 and `16 are doing it. It started right after a long trip with a 13k lbs 5th wheel to Colorado, but not through the Eisenhower pass. Highest elevation was only about 6k feet. FWIW it's got the 300mm axle.

Questions are these:
Is this something which happens with any frequency on the '14?
Is it something to do with the aluminum cover?
Is there anything special which needs to be done with this cover for replacement of the seal?

Thanks in advance.

Could be nothing... At 40k you're about due for a fluid change anyway. Would be good to pick up a replacement seal when you do in case it is damaged somehow.

Turns out it's the rear axle front pinion seal. Damn.

$200 bucks to have it done, and I'm in a huge hurry so it'll hopefully be done Monday afternoon.

Lost the sensor that monitors DPF filter as well. Another $250 bucks. Only 46k miles, too. :(
