i have heard of people using dodge nv4500 on the cummins 4bt engine. id like to use a 4bt and a manual and i dont know which tranny and transfer case to use. the ford 5 speed bolts right in but i dont really want to use the ford tranny as i would like a chevy or dodge tranny. dodge would be nice so i can bolt on some dana axles on it and run probably 33" to 35" tires on hopefully 6 or 8 lug rims. any input on this at all? im open to anything

The NV4500 would be an ideal transmission for this swap.
The NP 241HD behind it would be really nice too.

A lot of it depends on what you're planning to do. I'd love to do a 4BT swap into a clean 2G, leave it basically stock (285s and a level), half ton axles etc. Not hot rod the 4BT.

Just have a cool get around vehicle that will run after the death of electronics.

Id like to put it in either a 90's chevy 1500 or ram 1500 2g like my girlfriends 2g. With 1tons under it. Im looking for like a every day drive but with good offroad capabilities too.

What truck would I find a nv4500 under and what transfer case to go with it? Unless I find it together. Im planing on junkyarding all my parts and trying to build it bit by bit from scratch. So you know how that goes

1 tons would be really kick ass.
I don't think you'd need em unless you're planning on running 35s.

do you think a 4bt would be enough to push a 1500 around with 1 tons under it? or would i need a bigger engine? id like to keep it a simple old school engine tho. like the 4bt and maybe a few mods like a new cam to add some power and a more adequate turbo and ive read bigger injectors add some power to this thing
