recently im thinking of buying a cummins.
first question is what is a fair price for a good truck since some of these prices range from cheap to what seems overpriced. I live in northeast pa so alot of these trucks are rotted out, which is what im not looking for.

anyway i recently found two truck that have my attention.
the first is a 98 ram 2500 cummins 24valve quad cab short bed, and it is mint!
it even had leather interior and is in good shape, it only has 131,000 miles on it and is automatic(the only thing i dont like about it)
they asking $13000 for it and its without a warrantee. Now my question is, is that a good price for a truck that old? and is it worth it without a warrantee?
here is some pics

another is a 2006 quad cab short bed larime that only has 110,000 miles auto
5.9 fully loaded and is in good shape, and i know they put new brakes, turbo back exhaust, oil pan gasket, and other things. It comes with a 1 year 12000 mile warantee and is at a local dodge dealer. the only thing im not crazy about is the $26000 price tag. Just curious of what u guys think, i really like both but just dont know if these are deals or not i really like the 06 just bc its newer and i know that a girl had it and never towed with it or anything like that.
what do yall think??

both are nice looking trucks. i like the second gen personally, sounds like an alright deal. that thing is clean too! as far as the third gen...sounds kind of high priced to me but thats just my opinion. i dont really know what they're worth though. i think if it were me i would be leaning towards the black second gen...

ima agree with above and i would try for 11 or 11.5..... that does look like a clean truck and those miles are low!!

Thats the price that came to mind when I saw the truck (11K).
As far as the 06 goes, that price is a tad high (then again its only the asking price). For reference I bought my 07 w/90K 7 months ago for 23K. It's pretty much the same truck but a year newer, has the 6.7L, and less miles. The dealer was asking 28K. Around here it seems a lot of places ask as much if not more for the 06/07 5.9's because a lot of people like those over the 07/08 6.7's because of the DPF, new motor, trans, and issues they had early on. Personally id take the 06 if you can get the price down a little, but the final decision is up to you, and what you feel comfortable with.

That 98 is the better deal IMO , cheaper parts vs the C/R
For instance .. The 98 a set of injectors ... 500-600 bucks
For the C/R .... over 1,300 bucks

That is a fair price for around here to be honest.

I got my 06 ctd two years ago for around that price with 64k on the dial from a dealer. No 1 year and was not as loaded. You should be able to get them down on that price tag. As an owner of a 98 and 06 i think you would be happier with the 06 interior.

Coming in late here - I like the 98 - big fan of 2nd GENs and nearly bought a '98 2500 when they were new. As other's mentioned, I'd offer lower than the asking... probably offer $9,000 and work from there. Good luck!
