Damn, G rated?? you must do some heavy haulin

I am just leery of a 8-ply ? What are the difference they are weight rated like a 10ply ?

Those are 14 ply... :naughty: 4 Tires x 3,750# = 15,000# Capacity (In Theory...) But the front axle is 5,200# GAWR and rear is 6,084# GAWR... I did the load range G's because they where cheaper... But being I'll never ever reach there capacity the chances of tire failure is nearly ZERO...

Dave since you not hauling any trailers or carrying load in the bed of the truck I don't think you'll have a problem... Scaled weight of my truck is 4,400# Front axle and 2,860# rear axle empty. So Really sure you just fine with Load Range D's...

Which I've got a set of D's on the travel trailer and its GVWR is 8,500# so I doubt your that heavy... 2 Axles 4 tires x 2,600 = 10,400# Capacity...

2v13u4m.jpg

But here is a funny fact... I told you the rear axle GAWR is 6,084#... But typical all Load Range E's are rated for 3.042# times 2 for the axle and ****! 6,084# Rear axle rating is limited to the common Load Range E's abilities. Which I'm sure the axle can handle more but now the springs can handle a bit more not much more.

Edit... I found the web page of what I got...

the only reason i run E's on mine is for towing the rv. wieghed on my last trip at
22,700. 6080 on the rear axle. my E's are rated at 3740 per tire at 80 psi. thats almost 7500#. make me want to go to a D. possibly would if there was much price differance. not sure though. but if i did not tow at all i would damn sure drop on the load rating.

I have e rated as I tow a lot and I like knowing that I will probably never push the limit and they will not fail. I don't mud a lot but I was impressed with the Dunlop mud rover? **** cepek fc2 or mud country and of course my favorite as you know BFG all terrain which I know is not a mud only tire but does great without losing ton of mpg. They are softer though.

i have to correct something i stated above. my e tires are only rate at 3415#. it is my g's on the rv that are rated at 3740#. i got them mixed up. another good reason to always check what you are buying and compare that to your needs.

MoparMan ...

Wheels are 24 pounds each 16x8
Tires are 79 pounds each 315-75-16

So each one weighed out on the scale with air and weights at 116 each

Perfect...

So I'll show you something now...

Rule of thumb: For every 4 pounds of rotational mass will require 1 HP.

So like mine are 62# for rim, tire, air etc. Your are 116# per tire...

62# x 4 tires = 248# total

116# x 4 tires = 464# total

Difference of...

464# - 248# = 216#

So now the rule of thumb...

216# / 4 = 54 HP

So you require 54 more HP just to keep up with me on the pavement. So since I require 54 HP less to keep rolling vs you my MPG's will be greater...

Some thing to chew on... No personal attacks here but to point out the larger tire on these tire do look great but they come at a price for the tire and the constant loss of MPG's. As for using a percentage to correct I find more time out of ten that doesn't math out right. But if you use a GPS and gallons you might find a true story.

I am not worried about the 54 hp loss as I will gain that and some back with injectors , new turbo , gears , ect ,,, And I am still in the low 20's for MPG .

I am happy

See I had a effect on you... :naughty:

Now you at least looking at rotational mass as a possible facotr to performance. That good at least now you not letting simple stuff get by you. :)
