New to diesels. I have a new 15 2500 that has the exhaust brake that can be run in full or in auto mode. Do you all have it on all the time (auto) or only when hauling something?

Thanks,
John

I run mine every time I drive the truck. The more you keep the veins in motion the less chance they will get sooted up and cause problems.

I run mine everytime i tow along with tow haul mode.

The thing is, to get the exhaust brake working, you really need to have it in tow/haul mode so the transmission shifts down as you slow down which activates the exhaust brake.

Otherwise it only activates when you let off the throttle but then it doesnt continue to work as you slow down.

It needs RPM to work. I've found that it works at any gear above 1500 RPM or so
