So when is the last time you actually put 3/4 of a ton in the bed of your truck? Ever tried?

Well, I currently have one pallet, 75 bags, of mulch in the bed of the truck, that officially weighed in at 1495lbs.

So here is the result, it squats real low in the back, enough that the steering becomes a little fuzzy. I had them push the pallet as far forward as they could, I would say center of the pallet is forward of the axle by six inches. So besides the truck sitting front end high and the steering a little fuzzy, it rode real smooth.

Yeah, I was not real happy with how much that one pallet squatted the truck in the rear. I have hauled more with my other trucks with less squat. I think it may be the change from leaf spring to coil springs in the rear.

I haul 1 ton pallets of pellets in my truck all winter. This year I convinced myself to put a set of Firestone bags in the rear. Now I load the pallet, air up the bags and it sets perfectly level. Next step may be to put an on-board compressor so I can set the bags with the touch of a button.

The new coil springs give much more than the leaf spring setup. If you are going to haul heavy often the a set of airbags are almost a must.

The bags make a lot of difference hauling or pulling a trailer

Yup, pretty much convinced I need some bags in the rear. I have a small pump in the garage I will set up as an on board compressor.
