Looking at getting into another dodge. This time it's a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 reg cab long box. Diesel obviously with 206k miles and about 10-14k on a brand new tranny. It's rough, rusted dented and needs a door panel, power windows don't work and no a/c.

Also leaks a little oil and throwing a p1688 code which I read can be a spendy or kind f serious issue. I'll get pics if I can but I need some advice asap if this is a good deal or not. He would drive it up to me which is 3 hours away and let it go for 2700$.. Seems like a good price. Not looking for a daily driver out of it but need opinions please and thank you .

Run away!

I imagine anything that old looks like that up where you live. What are you plans for it?

I guess if all I was looking for was a hunting truck that was just going to rot away anyway then maybe MAYBE. But if you actually planned on driving it regularly I would go looking for something that was taken care of a little better. It would never be worth the money spent that you would need to spend to fix it up. Plus dropping a grand for a new VP right off the bat. If you really wanted it I'd say no more than $1000 cash.

Okay thank you I talked to him down to 2400$ but that makes sense, I wouldn't use it as a daily driver but for everything else .. Hunting or hauling around the house or whatever it may be but I'm just skeptical ..
