'15 Ram dually.

"But didn't you just get a new '14 Ram dually?" Yes I did.

Kinda had to find a new one.

yeah, if he were in a prius, I think the outcome would've been much worse.

@Hounddog man that is terrible. Good to hear you are OK. The other driver must have been moving to buckle the frame like that. Hope you have better luck with the new one :favorites13:

80,000 lbs vs 8,000lbs.

The traffic crash investigators estimated his speed at 60mph in a 55 zone. It was the weight which did the damage. Sent the truck into a steel post of sorts. I was unhurt but for bumps and bruises. Notice there's not structural damage to the cab at all. That's what surprised me. Once again havill motors in Jefferson, Wisconsin came through replacing my truck with a nearly exact copy brand new one.

Yeah man, the cab held up surprisingly well. Like rc's, most don't end that well.

Btw... I think its awesome that you got an almost identical truck. Your '14 was a mega wasn't it? Do you miss the extra space?

Holy crap!! Glad you're okay! That hit must have been a terrible surprise.

When I had my 2012 1500 quad cab for 11 months I realized quickly that it needed to be a 2500. I was dying to drive a mega cab but to be honest I think I would have made better use of a crew cab's space. If I were hauling loads out of town and needed a sleeper I would pick the mega cab hands down because it's so roomy back there. The mega cab back seat doesn't flip up, it rolls down forward so if you're going to make use of the space behind the seat you cannot keep anything under the seat or you'll have to move it everytime you put the seat down. Also, the Mega Cab does not come with the floor storage compartments in the back. I've decided that my next truck will be a dually crew cab with a long box. The 6 foot 4 inch bed I have now is shortened greatly with the tool chest in it and I wish I had the extra space and I will enjoy lifting the seat in the back and using the under seat storage and hopefully it will have one of those fold out flat floors that I used to have in my quad cab. the Mega Cab only has a small storage compartment in the floor behind the seat so as big as the truck is unless you are trying to sleep back there or you have a family that wants to recline their seat back I think I would best use a crew cab over Mega Cab.

That is some really great info about the storage in the mega cabs. My local dealer never has any in stock so I haven't had a chance to check one out for myself. I would miss the storage under the seats and in the floors for sure. They sure are pretty when lifted though :)

Birddog- I'm surprised you like the storage in the crew better. Now that I'm back in a crew cab, I feel like I have so much less space for storage compared to the mega cab. I do like the floor bins, but having all the space behind the seats in the mega was great.
