98 CTD 12 Valve- Half the valves, twice the fun
Well gents,
first time posting. Just made the trade of the century with my dad. Swapped my 2000 Cherokee (got to love the old 4.0 I6 hehe) for his 98 2500 extended cab long bed. I honestly say I got the better end of the bargain on this one lol.
Plans for it- replace headliner, install dashmat (dang dodge dashboards... my 99 dakota had the same problem, went through two dashes before I sold it for my wrangler) delete fuel heater, BHAF, and maybe if it will help gain a few MPG advance the timing just a bit. What do you guys think?

ill get some pics up as soon as I get a chance to. Got a new baby boy (no- not my truck lol) that lately has been the primary center of attention. The truck is my second center of attention lol.
I was reading your sig and youre running water/**** injection it says. Ive heard about it, but what is the true advantage (on a stock truck, no mods what so ever, heck the motor is just now getting broken in 105k on original components)

Not really a benefit for a stock truck . I run bigger..well everything .. it helps keep my EGT's in check when I am boosting 45+ PSI

ouch 45+ boost? Are you running ARP studs? or were the 24v CRD's equiped with stronger head components than my old rattle trap?

The 24v has some strong studs . I forget the rating . But ... Have a full set of studs in my shop just screaming to go in . I just have to find the time . After they go in its time for twins :********:

ooohhhh twins... nice... Man a set of twins would liven the ol beast up nicely haha. Whats your CRD pushing power wise right now? Im not trying to boost the power through the roof on mine, just trying to squeeze every drop of fuel effiecency out of it (its already getting decent MPG, better than my cherokees 4.0l was getting) I averaged approx 21MPG driving from SC back to Ft belvoir VA when I picked it up.

ok, im impressed lol. Im not to familiar with the 24 valves, the 12 valve Ive been tinkering with on my off time since my dad bought it new in 98, so I have a decent enough working knowledge of it. 600 ponies is a nice amount, 1100 torque is way more than I need lol. Jeez, you pulling houses off of their foundations with that bahemoth lol?

Will do, do you have a website outside of your FB page?

Oh, you wouldnt happen to have the specs for adjusting the front and rear bands on the auto tranny for my 98 would you? Ive found the 97 and 99 but not the early 98 year band adjustment specs. I need to do a tranny fluid change, and while Im down there might as well tighten the bands up to factory specs again, Im sure they wore out of the specs by now
