Wanted to get some input. Have a 2013 1500 Express CC which i've had since last July. 21K miles, amazing truck. LOVE IT. But its short on options (2WD, base model), which is fine - however, i'm running in to restrictions on camper shopping, and i've needed the 4WD a few times and didn't have it. One time resulting in getting stuck in leaves in a beautiful fall day. Sad.

I've found a few 06-08 2500's that could work. The one i have my sites on:
Used 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie For Sale near Atlanta & Canton GA | 3D7KS28A68G109393

This could allow me to upgrade to a 5th wheel, or a larger TT than we're looking at. PLUS, i get all the options that i've missed.

There are a few 5.9L's i've looked at too, that are cheaper. Any issues going 5.9 over 6.7? Reason I ask - big price differences. But I know this 6.7L, at 75K miles, isn't even broken in yet.

Thoughts on the change? Any input, things to look for? I'm new to the CTD world, but its a place i'd like to be. How is the price for what it has? Any input would be appreciated.

6.7s have a bunch of emmisions junk on them that 5.9s dont
My girlfriends dad just bought an 08 2500 with 60k miles on it for $32k after he totaled his 09 2500

That is a good looking truck but still seems a bit high.

Deleting emissions is pretty easy. $800 to $1600 for a tuner or less for efi-live plus a few hundred for hard parts to replace the DPF and EGR if you want.

Look for an 02-06 5.9 plenty of power to pull your camper plus they don't have the emissions garbage on them. 6.7s need to be worked otherwise they'll carbon up

Were an emissions tested state. Does that make a difference at all, for doing the deletes?

Just KBBd... 29K for this truck. Dealership is trying to capitalize on the upgraded steps and bumper i think.

You should be able to go more years on a diesel loan seeing they last longer than a gas truck

Early 07 is the last make of the 5.9.
07.5+ is the 6.7.
If you're an emissions tested area I wouldn't mess with a 6.7.
Stick with with the 5.9.

Yeah a lot of states that do require emissions testing don't test diesels

I'm looking at a few 5.9's now.. 06's. Few megacabs, etc.

I'm with you, i dont want to have to deal with deletes and such if i dont need to. Just more money to spend.

i have zero issues or headaches with my 04.5 and its got just shy of 120k on it. more then enough power in stock form for what it gets used for, and surprisingly decent on fuel for a 4x4 quad cab dually (not as good as the 2nd gen 24v i had but a far better truck, imo). i loved the 2nd gen, but too many issues.

Well I agree the price is too much for that truck. I paid less for my 2010 with the same mileage.

As far as emissions are concerned, the above is correct with tuners, delete pipes etc. BUT, according to your laws, a vehicle with a GVWR of 8500+lbs are exempt from testing.(that means us diesels) See hereGeorgia's Clean Air Force

Diesel testing is spreading fast.
A deleted 6.7 won't even pass visual inspection if they know what they are looking for.

You are grandfathered in if you have one before the emissions is passed
It's been a federal offense to modify exhaust systems since the 70s
