Ya, but that trailer is specifically designed for that boat so you don't have to make adjustments... Also, please tell me you didn't actually haul that around... 20,000# +trailer on a bumper pull!?!?.

Just like flatbed trailers, boat trailers are pretty universal. You move the bunks/rollers forward/backward to adjust the weight properly over the wheels and so the tongue weight isn't too high....just as you would a truck on a flatbed trailer.

I agree with the rest of what you said though.. he needs to compare his suspension to another 03+

I am thinking that the rear sping has a leaf taken out of it...the truck does sit level and the rear does feel very light. Guess I need to hit the junk yards to see if I can find a 03-07 rear 2500 or 3500 spring...FYI I looked at a 2003 1500 the other day...looks exactly like the spring I have in my 2500.

Actually the truck in that picture does that daily and has over 1.2 MILLION miles on the clock hauling boats cross country.

Your truck was sitting a little bit far up on the trailer
Notice how it's back tire is almost right over the The rear trailer axle
Not to mention there's hardly any weight in the back of the truck

I would of turn the truck around on the trailer and put it on backwards putting most of the weight over the trailer axles. Truck squat is a sign that the trailer is overloaded or truck is overloaded.

Once again you want to have about 12-15% of gross trailer weight in the tongue.

Still fairly level with a 20,000 pound boat excluding the trailer...

i agree the truck was way up there on the trailer, however, it was a 20' trailer and about 18' of it tilted, and the truck needed its tire in FRONT of the tilt on the trailer for safety reasons, and if i would have backed it on i wouldnt have had a short enough distance to get tire in front of tilt. as you can see in the pic i have less distance between bumper and tire up front than in back of truck, and the bumper is about an inch away from front "fence" of trailer. so the only load option i had was as you see it in the picture.

I agree too. I would compare to other like model trucks to see what's different.

Looks like the 3rd gens are a bit soft in the springs dept. Comparing that to my 2nd gen it seem flat less bow to the springs, no overloads springs, no rubber pads between the support leaf and the main deck.

By chance Stangshcky12 your bed was empty correct?

A little bit of weight in the tool box but not nearly enough to make a difference

Looking at it now from a computer it does look like its sitting on the bump stop
I tried to take a picture from the same angle as yours but you couldnt see the leaf pack

Well I raised the trailer a bit...but no real difference...Guess the answer is a major beef up of the 03 rear end with a sway bar, air bags and overload springs...that coupled with the fact that the 03 common rail gets 14mpg at 55-60 mph and the vp44 01 gets 22-24 at 70....If I was not on my 7th vp44 I would just dump the 03...
