I have a 2012 3500 Limited with only 28000 miles on it and want to get rid of the Firestones that came on the truck, they are the worst tire I have ever owned. I'm looking at BFG's AT / K02'S Michelin LTX AT2's and the Goodyear silent Armor Pro's. I pull a 35ft 5th wheel and would like to go a up to a 275/70/17 or maybe even a 285/70/17. I know the 275/70/17 will fit on the stock rims but what about the 285's will the fit my stock rims. Has anyone gone up in size with the stock rims ? If you have was there any issues towing ? Thanks for any feed back.

Make sure the tire you pick is at least a Load Range E tire. A 275/70 will definitely fit with no problem.

The 285 should also fit but I'd check the tire mfgr's recommendation on rim width just to make sure.

I run 305/70/17s on the factory polished aluminum rims on my '12. I have had them on about 30k miles and no issues towing our 35 TT. They do rub a little bit on the pass side at full lock and articulation but no rubbing at all during normal/aggressive driving. 285/70s will fit no problem. That is what come stock on the Power Wagons of the same year.
