First time cummins owner, got it 2 weeks ago. I plan on doing 1st oil change around 2000 miles. Did a lot of web search and cant find if motor comes from factory with synthetic oil. Owners manual says towing good loads during first 10,000 miles helps with wear in. I use truck empty every day for my short daily commute, but plan to occasionally tow my trailer around to help with wear in. Would using synthetic during first 10,000 miles have any impact on the wear in? Also which filter fleetguard stratopore or Donaldson blu? Which is better for warranty?

No oil filter is better for warranty as long as it's within spec. Straight synthetic is only needed if you're in extreme cold per the manual. I run rotella T5 synth blend though. Pick it up at Walmart along with a Mopar filter for under 50 bucks. I haven't seen anything about it being synthetic off the line. I would bank on it being bulk 15-40 to cut costs since I had to install my own cabin filter.
