I got my new 96 cummins from my dad and he said hes had death wobble issuses but he installed a steering stablizer and pretty much got rid of it. I just hit a bump goin down the road and the entire truck started shaking a lot. It was to tge point where it was hard to steer. What could the reason of this be on a stock truck. Thanks

Few things can cause this...check your king pins for play
check your tie rod ends
check your steering box to see its functioning properly
Stock size tires? Larger tires are more prone to wobble

Usually death wobble is caused by one or more worn steering components. If a 1996 front end has never been rebuilt, everything could be (probably is) worn out. Also, a lot of times a steering stabilizer just masks the problem.

I was reading one of the main problems could be the track bar or track bar bushings. Am i able to tell just by play how bad the bushings are?
