Funny thing happened today ... last night temps were in the mid to upper 40's
Went out to start the truck .. started fine .. let the truck idle for a min went to shift into drive ... it dies ...
Started it back up and let it idle for 5-10 min and it went into drive fine .

My question ... what gauge do I need to watch in order to get it up to temp , oil , water , trans ect ? And what is the proper temp to get it to before putting it in drive .

I have 2 battery blankets and trans heater on the way . And I also have the heater block . Didnt know I needed the this soon ? I can already tell this truck will be cold blooded .

I was digging for a old thread I got of the same issues but haven't found it yet... Rather common issue with automatics.

Another idea is start it in neutral and allow the pump to warm the fluid for a few minutes...

i have seen several threads around with people with autos having the same problem. never have seen a definative answer though. i have one, get a 6 speed, be sure it is a nv5600, they dont make them anymore. then you can swap one set of problems for another.

Seem to be a automatic transmission thing more than anything...
