Last week I finally got my truck detailed by a local guy who uses only Adam's products. I specifically chose him since I only use Adam's stuff on the truck and all the products work together. The guy got here at 8am and left at 8pm. He did a wash, clay bar, two stage paint correction, paint sealant, glaze, wax, and then dressed the tires and trim. I bought the truck used and the previous owner had used the drive through car washes and left it swirled beyond belief. Fortunately for me, the guy who did the detail was able to get close to 90% of the swirls removed. The picture shows one of the worst areas on the entire truck and it's night and day. While it did cost me $650, I can honestly say it was money very well spent. The truck got dusty in the past 4 days and all I had to do to get it back to looking like when he left was hose it off, dry, and hit a few areas with detail spray.

Here you can see the result if somebody does it right. And you can see that it really takes time!

Agreed. He let me use his buffer in a small area just to see what it is like and gave me some pointers for when I buy one. He basically said it while it takes him about 7 hours, it would take me about 14-15 until I had done it numerous times. I am probably going to buy a Flex polisher and do it myself next time, but since the truck was so badly swirled I wanted a pro to do it the first time. The smartest thing I did was ask him TONS of questions to find out some of his lil tricks and tips.

When you tell people what the cost of a complete detail is they think your crazy. After watching him detail your truck and understanding the amount of work it takes and taking into account the cost of the materials, I bet you can attest to the fact that a good professional detail ain't cheap---or easy. Your truck looks great!!!!

Looks sick. What kind of product do you use, I just purchased a 2013 black tradesman and I'm looking to wax and seal my truck as well. The previous owner left quite a bit of light scratches and it's killing me. Also, I love the tires, what did you go with?

Thanks! Yeah I knew going in it was going to be worth it but it is a lot of money. I will probably only do this level of detailing 1-2 times a year since I stay on top of keeping it clean. He gave me a lot of great info to help with making it look better when I do it myself.

I only use Adam's Polishes products. The detail was done using only their products as well. He used their compound, polish, paint sealant, glaze, and the Patriot Wax which is like $100 for a tiny jar. I use their car shampoo, tire shine, super VRT (vinyl, rubber, trim), interior detailer, detail spray, all purpose cleaner, undercarriage spray, buttery wax and H20 Guard and Gloss...and a few other things I'm blanking on.

The good thing about sticking with one companies products is they all work together and can be layered. Some people say you can't layer stuff but with Adam's you can and they show you the process in videos on youtube. I wouldn't use the buttery wax if you don't already have a better thicker, longer lasting wax already on it...for that I'd buy the Americana wax which is cheaper than what this guy used. In terms of the light scratches I'm sure with a polisher and their paint correction stuff it'll come out or at least look way better.

Tires are Nitto Trail Grappler MT 35x12.5r20 on 20x10.5 -24mm offset Fuel Hostage

Sweet. Now when the wife gets irritated when I spend 4 hrs detailing my car. I can tell her I saved $200ish US. Ha.

Looks great!

You spend $450 detailing your own car? haha. Once I get a polisher I'll do it myself 1 a year and probably have him do it the other time. Gotta keep the ride looking good!

I had someone detail my car for me once, and loved it. I found out real quick though, that for that kind of money - its well worth buying all the equipment and doing it yourself. As someone posted earlier - it definitely can take 12-14+ hours though. It generally takes me 2 days to fully do mine (theres quite a few breaks in there as well, but its definitely a project).

Now that its done, you should be able to get away with doing it once a year. I do mine in the spring as I join the unlimited carwash club locally during the winter months. Then come spring, I clean it up.

Waxing should be 2-3 times a year, but you don't want to do a full paint correction that many times as you wear off a little each time. It may take 200 corrections, or it might take 1 bad one before you start to wear through a spot in the paint.

+1 for the Flex Polisher I have the 3401 and would not trade it for any other. You might want to consider the newer flex that is not a forced rotation if you are not familiar with polishing yet. If you ever need any help or questions answered feel free to PM me.

Another +1 for the Flex 3401 VRG polisher here. I just bought mine a few weeks ago after using a Porter Cable 7424XP for a few years and the difference between the two is crazy. So happy with the Flex and the power it has to cut through almost anything. You won't be disappointed with it at all.
The only thing that it can't do that leaves it lacking slightly is have 4" pads on it. Would definitely be nice to have that ability for smaller areas. I can see myself buying a second polisher to throw 4" pads on to get in those areas in the future.

The truck definitely came out great! I've been using Adam's products for almost a year now and am beyond impressed with every one of them that I've used. Fantastic quality and like you said, are all made to work together which is a bonus as well.
The 12 hours sounds bang on the money for the work you had done; that's right at what I would have estimated it at as well.

To show you what the power of the Flex can do here's the recent project I just used it on.
I bought this '65 Nova about a year ago. The previous owner was an idiot in more ways than one that I won't get into, but one of the things he did was sand down all the paint on the body. I have a feeling it was trying to wet said just without the wet and it came out horrible. Here's what it looked like when I brought it home:

I polished it up a bit last year with my Porter Cable polisher and Meguiars Heavy Cut Polish to at least get it a little better but it was still nowhere close to where I wanted it. So after doing a bunch of mechanical and interior work on it this year it was time to finish the polishing job. I ended up wet sanding the front end and trunk lid as they were never done and then polished it up from there. Here's what I ended up with.

As you can see it almost looks like a whole different car. Or that it was painted at least. Here's comparison of what I had done last year with the Porter Cable VS this year with the Flex.

So to reaffirm your decision, the Flex is definitely the way to go IMO.

Beautiful truck man, yea, money well spent. The swirls alone were worth getting rid off...I applaud you doing an all black truck, being particular. :)

But outstanding job!
