yeah when i bought my new black edition ram they told me "we will take it back and have them wash and clean it up while you do the paper work" i told them that if they do that i will cancel the check for the truck and they can keep it :roflsquared:

Yep. When we bought my wifes car a couple years ago I made it crystal clear I didnt want them to prep it, but they did it anyway. Luckily the Lexus dealer details a lot cleaner than the Infiniti dealer and they didnt harm it. I do the same thing with them, though: signs on every window and steering wheel "DO NOT WASH". They laugh at me, but I guarantee they'll never eff it up.

The guy that fixed my G now gets all of my business if I dont have the motivation/time to detail something. Brought wifes Lexus home and parked it until my detailer could come and OptiCoat it.

Also referred him to my sister/brother-in-law for their cars too.

I have a LED one from lowes that i love

8a41e37d2971b707d8c14b7c17709f91.jpg

Tons of light and will show you all the swirls you do or do not have, and its extremely light and puts out no heat

The LED shows all the swirls and imperfections? When i was working on my truck i have two super bright LED flashlights (yeah i know just flashlights lol but bright as hell) and it didnt show anything. Thats when i started borrowing the lamps from the living room :roflsquared:

I find you really have to look at an angle and almost "ahead of" or "behind" the bulk of the light, when using an LED.

Halogen are much easier, I lower them to maybe a bit higher than the panel Im working on (for trunk, hood, etc) then go to the opposite end of where the light is and start walking around.

i havent had any trouble with it so far, i use that one pictured, it puts out light similar to the way halogen does and its halogen colored, thats probably what helps that, but also i have some smaller LED lights i use for up close checking, and again never had an issue seeing swirls on them either

Not the worst ive dealt with by far but you can see it shows the swirls pretty easily

I hate the pix because it shows how bad my black truck was before lol

But its non-edited picture results like this of 14 year old paint that make you love detailing and what makes it addictive

Wish I could do this to my new truck. Unfortunately I do not have a big enough garage to keep it all nice and clean....can't wait to move to a house that has an adequate garage space! Then I'll jump on this detailing completion lol
