I just put on a set of Falken AT3s and tried to apply tire shine this weekend. It's a gel and was a pain in the rear to apply on these tires.

Is there an easier way or does anyone have a spray shine they would recommend?

I like the gel I used, it was just a pain to apply. 5c07c0a4439fba88ef6f66ef74659492.jpgc57ad09a66a8673856b31a90cc3c6f4b.jpg

I use a spray called Nice & Wet by Chemical Guys. Gets in those side knobs nice and holds up pretty well. I usually spray and let it sit overnight if possible. Otherwise I'll wipe off the excess after a few mins if I need to drive.

I use both Adam's Tire Shine spray and also their VRT which is like a cream. They make a foam applicator with a handle which helps avoid getting your hands all dirty. I have Nitto Ridge Grapplers and it does a good job getting equal coverage with the VRT. If you use the spray I still use the foam applicator and then use a small brush to get into all the smaller areas. If I use the VRT I'll sometimes use a q-tip or something like that to get the smaller areas since the brush doesn't work as well in my opinion. I prefer the VRT since it doesn't sling and also doesn't leave a "shiny" look but more a wet or satin look.

Does the Adam's stuff turn the sidewall brown when it fades?

I haven't seen it happen yet. However every wash I clean my tires with their rubber and tire cleaner and then reapply the VRT. It is a 35 SPF product so I'm sure that helps it from turning brown since it protects against the sun, which I'm assuming is why other products do turn brown.

If you are looking for something you can run down the street and pick up vs. ordering, I have been using Meguiars Hot Shine spray and am pleased with it. Dries fairly quick, so no sling and lasts a good week. Doesn't keep a glossy wet shine the whole time, but keeps tires looking new. Was using the M Tech spray prior and it did not last as long and the would sling even a couple hours after application.

There is no really easy way to properly dress knobby tires. I've found the best method is to use a gel on the smooth part nearest the rim & a spray for the knobby outer part.

I had the Meguiars Hot Spray Foam lying around so used it & was happy with the results.

I try to limit dressing them to only when they go brown or dull grey.

Best I have found BLACK MAGIC tire wet foam spray. Can buy it at Walmart. It's worked well for me on everything from low-pro street tires on my Dart to 35" mudders on my old ram

I use tire form from armorall - the more you put it on, the more it shines.. so I only put on 2 coats.

Looks like new tires. Not glossy. Love it.

I can tell you guys for a fact that the Maguires hot shine slings all over the place. But then again I do have a silver truck don’t know how much of a difference that makes.

"Back To Black" from Custom Offsets works fantastic. not shinny but makes the wheel look like a brand new tire. ( not greasy and wont sling off )

You can also buy a paintbrush or foam brush and it will help you to evenly distribute the gel.

IMHO if you let any of these products dry---completely dry--I think you'll reduce the sling problem. Also when you apply some products if you wipe it on and wipe it off well enough I think the sling problem will also be reduced. With a lot of the products, once you drive in rain or through a lot of water I think all bets are off.

another vote for Adams Tire shine spray. I used to use only the vrt but it is very tedious on at and mt tires. I still use it on my car though. The spray will still need to be worked in with the foam applicator but will be a lot easier.

Local pickup Megs Endurance Tire shine is very good. Otherwise, Megs Hyper dressing diluted to 10:1. Sling happens when you over apply and don't let it dry before driving. Give it a final wipe to get off any excess and you should be fine.

Meguires hyper dressing, doesn’t give you the tacky looking high gloss. Dilute it down to the shine of your liking. I prefer a clean tire and satin look.

My list:
Meguires hyper dresses (gallon last a lifetime)
Chemical guys VRP (also a gallon)
Meguires endurance gel (but it is harder to apply and takes longer to dry..

I’ve attached a few diff dilution ratios below of hyper dressing ) 0f94471e274aad28ec84e666232df56f.jpga316b82b3329ae2c9dba56293e84dea9.jpg6a2e6c26175b78c564bd96219e8aad0d.jpg
