Has anyone tried either the 3M or the Griots bug barricade? I waxed the front of my truck twice before vacation last year but the bugs still stuck pretty bad. I've heard of using cooking spray but that sounds like it would be a greasy hard to wash off mess. I know how to get them off but is there a good way to stop them from being so hard to remove?

Never tried but I heard good feedback about the S-10-22 BUG GUARD. This stuff provides a temporary, protective coating instead of making the surface greasy/oily.

So I bought the Griots and applied it to half of the front of my truck for a real deal side by side comparsion. Then it rained for a couple hours on the way to Florida and washed it off and I didn't take it with me so I couldn't re-apply it. I will try again on my next trip.

Gtechniq EXO v2 works good for this. As long as you don't leave the bug guts on there long you can just wipe them right off.

I've used the Griots Bug Briggade and still do for trips. I think it works well. Like you mention with rain it gets washed off but that's one of the things I like about it that it's easily removed. Definitely made it easy to clean the bugs off after a trip.

How do you apply it? Spray it on and spread it around and leave it, or wipe it dry? The directions weren't clear.

I've had a lot of success with Rejex. I use it on the front of my trailer as well as the front of my truck, and have never really had any issues removing bugs, other than a little elbow grease when a trip lasts a couple of weeks without stopping to wash the rig.

I found out about Rejex from a couple of RV forums, who swear by it for preventing love bugs from damaging the paint. Also, I believe a lot of small aircraft owners use it for the front edges of the wings on their aircraft.

It goes on just like a wax and is very easy to apply and doesn't wash off.

Just my .02

Jay

(Also works great on rims to keep break dust from sticking0

I sprayed it on the truck and gently wiped with a microfiber cloth. What I read said its normal for there to be a slight film after application.

Update:
I applied the Griots Bug Brigade as instructed. As far as I can tell there was little to no improvement. I even sprayed bug and tar gel on first and let it soak in for 20 minutes. The bugs were just as hard to get off as usual. I will wipe down just the bumper with pam next trip and see how it goes.

I need to find where to get some of these products to try.... Bugs are bad this time of year with all the rice planted.... It sounds like driving in the rain or a hail storm, I pressure wash them off my truck every tuesday but the gust still stick and make it look dirty...

Are any of these products spray on like a spray on wax that is quick to apply ?

I just use GSS or Meguiars 135 before and after bugs. they wipe right off. dont need anything special for it.

Just started mixing the two about 30/70 % (GSS/M135). the GSS I think is noticeably slicker under a mocrofiber vs the M135 but I think the M135 last longer. The mix seems to be working great so far. water RUNS from it......o....and the bugs wipe right off.

In my experience..... a hard wax/ sealant that last a long time is great for protecting the paint form oxidation/bad things but dont help much for getting off bugs and stuff. the SOFTER things like synthetic detailers/spray waxes that dont last so long allow bugs to be wiped off way easier because they are so soft.... if that makes any sense. think about it this way. is it easier to clean a dried dead bug off something hard like glass or something soft....for example a painted panel with a thin layer of synthetic polymers ( oils) on it that act as lubricant?

they need applied way more often but they help keep things clean and make cleaning WAY easier. some are even a Deterrent for dust, form attracting to the paint (M135). the front of my truck gets a quick spray and wipe every morning, unless its to dirty/muddy.

M135 and GSS are my fovorite right now.

Meguiars Mirror Glaze 135 Synthetic Spray Detailer 128 oz., Meguiars detail spray, spray detailer, Megwires detailer, meguires detail spray
Griot's Garage Speed Shine Detailer, Griots Garage Speed Shine Spray, quick detailer

EDIT: another good one http://www.autogeek.net/1gallonrefill2.html
everyone has their own flavor of detailing stuff but they all are trying to achieve the same thing.

just an fyi.if you have a lot of smashed bugs on the grill/hood,just wet a dryer sheet and wipe.they will come right off with barely any scrubbing, but it leaves a film so you need to wash it properly after.and super cheep.try it.

if you are looking for a product to help keep bugs off, AutoMagic Hydro Shine works . You just spray it on right after washing your vehicle, let it haze like and wipe off with a clean rag. Since it is a paint sealant will create a protective coat over your paint make it easier to remove any bugs that do end up sticking.

If you have to get bugs off that are already on, try this bug remover. just spray it on a wet vehicle, let it set for 1 min and scrub clean. Auto Magic VOC Bug Remover
