This thread is soley to explain proper and helpful ways to wax. If you want to add a video, make it a video you, or another RF member made, no outside stuff. If you know some great tips/tricks, make a vid and post it up here, or explain your processes to help out members thinking of waxing!
If you have another product that you like, that's not on the list. Post it up and I'll add it.

Screw buckets of water, chamois, etc. LOL

Wax and Sealant products are like ice cream and beer---everyone has their favorite and they all swear that their's is the best, cheapest, looks the best and almost goes on and off by itself. I prefer using professional detailer products which tend to be a little more expensive initally however over time they are really cheaper because you use a lot less product when you apply them. These products seem to last longer , do a better job and in most cases, they are time tested by professional detailers. Two of my favorites are Wolfgang 3.0 Sealant and Collinite 845 wax. IMHO they are two of the better products on the market. I have had great success with them both and would recommend them to others. I don't think you can buy them at a big box store or a parts store however you can get them at --autogeek.net.
I'm not trying to start a ****'n match here--as I said everyone has their own favorite and as long as your satisfied with your results thats all that counts.

IMHO---A good wax will last about 60 days before you need to re-wax your truck to continue the protection to the surface. A good sealant will last about 6 months. Once again IMHO, if you only wax your truck about once every 6 months I think you would be better off using a good sealant, which will give you longer protection in between applications. You can always top the sealant with a good wax and it might last a little longer depending on the weather conditions, how often you wash your truck and whether you park inside or outside. Using a spray detailer after every wash will also keep your trucking looking really good in between waxing/sealing.

I've been using Colonite insulator wax
Its great if you keep up with it
I also like chemical guys jetseal 109 for sealing

I tried out some lucas oil detailing products, their spray on wax/quick detailer is pretty nice. Its pretty wet so having an extra microfiber helps prevent streaking

First I start off with a regular car wash using Meguires gold class wash. Then I follow that up with a claybar using Mother's Showtime as the lubricant. Once done, I go over the truck with Mothers Carnauba cleaner wax. After that, a final coat using Meguires NTX 2.0 wax. This will give your truck an amazing shine. I do this twice a year, and in between this process, I clean the truck using Mother's Showtime spray detailer. Only time I ever use water to wash the truck is if I have mud caked on the paint. Otherwise, I stick to the speed detailers.

I have a black truck and if you don't, this doesn't really apply to you but I was my truck with something called the turtle wax black box. It has a pre-wax, detailer spray, and black carnuba wax. I just got it to try it and I thought it was gonna be ******** but somehow it really did make my truck..."blacker" lol. Love it. I always start out with a regular wash though, and I use turtle wax ice soap for that. RainX on the windows and if I notice a lot of streaks I use newspaper on the windows. Its a trick I picked up from a guy at a Carshow. For some reason newspaper doesn't leave streaks lol. And for tires I use turtle wax something, I forgot the name but it's actually like a wax for your tires. Lasts at least a month and doesn't sling up the side of your truck. Great stuff. I love ice....When i 1st got my ram i used some stuff from mcguires as a paint restorer kinda stuff...Trk was owned by some tech geek in an area near salt water so the finish kinda lost its luster...I used my cheap buffer and the mcguires paint restore stuff(bottle # 2 i think)and buffed the **** outta it then topped it off with ice...Usually its a wash then wax process so its protected i guess..Almost got that new car gleam to it..I bought it used in july with just under 25000 kms(15000 mi)..Good thing about ice is that it NEVER leaves that white residue on black if you make a slip...
I have seen that ice has a kit out for the black color to,supposed to be specific to black and really brings out the blk more..Saw it at wallmart if anyone is lookin..
Gonna have to get the blk for my bike and the clear for my tango
