Anyone have any good brand of a duster for detailing the outside of a vehicle? Or is there a better route for keeping your vehicle clean after you've cleaned it?

Get yourself a quick detailer or some ONR. I would never run a dry towel or duster over any vehicle.

These are what old guys were always using at car shows when I was a kid.

If you have a good coat of wax and you only collected dust sitting in the garage after waxing I cant see how it could hurt. If it sits outside or you drive it much I would not use it myself. I used nothing but waterless car wash on a mustang for 4 years because it was a good weather weekend car only, no water washes and it looked great when I sold it.

California dusters have been around for years and years. Some people swear by them and others swear at them. The distractors say they leave small scratches and an oily residue on the surface, others say they are just fine and they save you a lot of work and time if all you are dealing with is dust. They do not remove dirt, bugs or finger/hand prints. After you first buy one you should wrap it in newspaper for about 24 hours and let the excessive oily substance soak into the paper before you use the duster. I think you're better off with a detail spray or just washing your truck using the 2 bucket method.

I was thinking about using my detailer spray since I have a bottle but wanted some opinions on the duster too. Seen a lot of guys at car shows use them and was curious but never asked them. I just wanted something to keep the dust off after I've cleaned my truck. I'll try the detailer spray and go from there, thanks guys.

Detail spray or adams waterless wash would be my first choice. My truck gets driven everyday to a coal fired power plant that neighbors a large steel mill, if the dust on the truck is very thick I won't even think about using detail spray or waterless wash. I get the hose and buckets out and give it a good bath. The adams products are very top notch, I love the detail spray!

Oh no I'd definitely wash my truck and make sure it's clean enough for just using the detailer to keep it clean.

I don't see how running a duster over waxed/sealed surface is any different than spraying and wiping detail spray onto dust. I've used a California Duster with no problems, but usually only on a freshly waxed surface.

Here in dry AZ, dust will collect on a vehicle before you are even done waxing. A quick swipe of a duster works great.

I also use detail spray or waterless wash. At times I've used a car duster. Seems to be fine as long as you aren't mashing the bristles down on the paint.

You will never keep dust off the paint... wish it was possible.
