So I was trying to hook up a trailer to my one month old 2017 and the ball slipped off, got stuck, and trying to get it off I scratched my painted rear bumper.

After a vein popping furious rage, and screaming a lot of cuss words in my street, it's now time to fix it.

It's probably 1/2 inch long and 1/8th in wide down to the metal. At least in the mean time I'd prefer not to fully repaint my brand new bumper.

If it was touched up even just a paint pen it probably wouldn't bother me that much even though it won't be perfect. Since the location isn't that bad.

Can a shop possibly do this without a full bumper respray? Or are my only options ghetto paint pen it or full respray?

Look into Dr Colorchip. Call them and give your paint code. If you are unsure about attempting this repair, YouTube has demos by the co-owner of Dr Colorchip and Mike Phillips of Autogeek

Checked it out. It it works as easily as their video and looks as good it should be pretty simple and work good.

Going for the dab and squeegee. My truck has rock chips on the hood as does my wife's Gold Durango.

Let me know how it works out. My front bumper it's littered with rock chips from my trip to Pittsburgh and being behind trucks changing lanes in the snow. I may just repaint it and wrap it but wanting to see results

Any reputable body shop fix......would require a full reclear of the part.

Not a bad thing, you'd hate to see a visible part where the clear coat wasn't the same.

x2, the dr. chip thing may work, but it just depends on if you can live with seeing that spot stand out to you every time u wash the truck, even if you are the only one to notice it, you will always see it when you walk around your truck

Ended up ordering the dr color chip kit. After reading a ton on it sort of wish I went langka as dr color seems to be the best by far for chips and langka maybe better for scratches. Although I read a few forums where people did a large scratch with dr color and said it was nearly impossible to see.

Ended up being 60 shipped so hopefully it works because id guess 300-400 would get it resprayed. Truck is literally a month old so would rather spend 300 at this point on Bilsteins. So I'll try the dr and if I can't stand it or later on I'll have it sprayed.

Impressed so far. It arrived already and is packaged nicely with extra instructions and and extra brush since my paint is very metallic

I plan on doing the same thing i did with my last truck to solve the chipped bumper problem.

Rhino liner. ( or hurculiner) Front and back bumper inside and out.
