Free car defunk.

I'm new here I have a 2016 laramie 1500 that today I put 2 inch lowering springs and a replacement muffler as well as a 2500 ctd. Ones my wife's ones mine, I also have an 84 k30 gmc flatbed dry I swapped a 12v into. But this has nothing to do with either. So I hope it doesn't get moved. But it is detail related.

I am very picky about my trucks they get washed almost every day at least once a week I pull them over the pit and take a wash mitt and wash the underside. I'm a fireman and every now and then I get 1-2 hrs out of a shift toclean on my truck. I'm ocd sorry lol

Well a friend a work gave me a 99 honda civic that was borrowed for years by her sibling. And she didn't want it anymore so I ended up with it. I figured I'd use it in bad weather and as a beater to go get truck parts in or when I'm dirty and don't want a mess up my truck.

Mechanically it is sound. The inside is intact but extremely dirty.

She smoked in it and there are old ashes every where. And remains of old food on the passenger side seat.

So my plan is to try to clean the carpet and set off a bunch of car bombs in it. And run the ac and see what happens.

If that doesn't work I'll pull the carpet and replace.

What tips do you guys have to defunk a car?

Will it ever be decent again?

If that does not work try replacing the headliner and carpet and shampoo the seats let all the windows open while u drive it for a few days to air it out. The smell is going to be in everything there is a cleaner called mean green or simply green (can't remember) but it actually works well.

I used to detail and got cigar smell out if my uncles truck and he smoked in it from the time he bought it new in 90's until he got rid of it in early 2k

Clean everything then search online for a auto ozone company. There are people that have ozone machines that they place in the car for a few hours. It will eliminate all odors permanently. Look it up on the web you will see what I am talking about.

We have something at work on the fire trucks we use to deodorize the smoke on houses with smoke damage. Wonder if that would be worth a shot too?

My wife thinks I'm crazy I have 2 new trucks trucked out like I want them and most of the time I drive a free car or a 30 hear old project. Truck with no air. It's the challange haha

Well the day has come. Soon as my lunch digests, I'm gonna get to working on it. Now that it's nice and hot I can see how good the ac works.

Put some charcoal briquets in a disposable aluminum pan and leave it in the car for a couple of days. It will absorb most of the smoke smell.

Rent an ozone generator to deodorize the interior of the car. My buddy used one in an old car that he couldn't get the musty mildew smell out with cleaning everything.
