Got a few iron deposits on my truck and a bunch of what I'm guessing carbon build up on on my rear bumper above my exhaust. I've got white paint so it's noticeable.

What's the best product for getting rid of this the safest and easiest without using a machine?

Frustration note: I can't believe how thin and soft the paint is on my truck it's brand new and I already have 3 rock chips. None on the front since I don't ride on the ass of the person in front of me but 2 on the side of my rockers and 1 on my mirror from what flings off the tires. If I ever get it repainted anywhere I'm having them double up the paint and I will be using line X on my rockers

I recommend visiting Autogeek and Autopia and comparing prices of Iron-X Mckee's 37 iron remover. The smell however is quite over powering. To remove bonded contaminants, purchase a clay bar kit, Mothers or Meguiars.

Thanks. Is claybar the only option I don't want to haze my finish over time and not have the experience with a machine to correct it. Will just hand polishing and waxing after make it okay?

Griots Garage and Nanoskin have clay bar alternatives. Sponges and pads. Clay comes in mild, medium and aggressive grades. Sponges and pads come in fine and medium grades. If clay falls to the ground, the clay will pick up any debris on the ground. If a pad or sponge falls to ground, simply wash and continue. Using a daul action polisher is 99% safe of causing any paint scares. When correcting your finish, your are leveling the clear coat of swirls, scratches and other imperfections in the clear.

Okay. I use only griots and Adams on my truck so I'm familiar with them. What form of clay would you recommend the most for my situation. Mild And a pad?

Just so you know your input matters I just ordered the iron x. 57bb8f54af18ff4ae27cba62513b0026.jpg

I have Nanoskin fine grade pad and medium grade sponge. I have a white 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. Griots is a great brand and they are head quartered in Tacoma. If you can afford to pay, go with the mild clay, pad and sponge, medium hand mitt. Plus have plenty of Griots detailer on hand. OK, with the Iron-X, after you wet your truck with water and spray the Iron-X and wash, flush your truck with plenty of water and fully rinse all Iron-X from surface.

Can I find the nanoskin at advance auto zone or orileys? And why do I need the detailer. I already have some, but why do I need it while using clay bar? Is it better than water?

Nanoskin is the brand I have. The clay or Griots pad you choose must have a lubricating fluid. Water cannot be substituted for a spray detailer such as Speed shine. Nanoskin has to ordered.

At auto parts stores, you might find Eagle or Eagle one clay alternative pads. Not the quality of Griots or Nanoskin. Get yourself some quality microfiber towels for the task ahead. Theragcompany.com is a question place to start and compare on Amazon

I don't think a clay bar will haze your finish. It will clean the paint and get rid of the deposits. I could be wrong but that is what I have been told and experienced.

Awesome that you use Adams products....me too

A medium grade clay can cause marring on soft paint but can be corrected using a mild aio like HD SPEED.

Oh, good to know. You definitely have more knowledge than me lol(I'm not being sarcastic). I saw that he used Adams and got giddy. Maybe not the top tier best product but in my opinion very good stuff and better than average every day products

Nothing wrong with Adams products. My sister bought me a kit for Christmas. I am going to use the kit on our way from Texas to Washington.

On a side note I bought a 6 x 72" roll of 3m tape off amazon. It was just enough to cover my rocker panels as well as behind the back wheels. Time will tell how much protection they actually provide, but it was a cheap and easy project. Love your ram btw!

A shiny one
Adam's Wheel Cleaner is great for more than just wheels too! Have a light colored paint job like white or silver? Then you've no doubt noticed the little orange iron particles that stick to your paint. Adam's Wheel Cleaner can be sprayed on these little trouble areas and used to dissolve the iron from these surfaces as well.*
Adam's Wheel Cleaner is guaranteed to be the best wheel cleaner you've ever experienced!

I’ve been using a product for several years made by Carpro called IronX. Other companies have products that work pretty much the same, but all I've ever used it the IronX.

I just wash my truck, then after I’m done, I spray down the areas you see the specs & watch it work....turns the rust specs purple as it dissolves them. I use a sponge & more spray on stubborn areas to get rid of them.

Other people swear by finishing the process off with a clay, but I don't use the clay....I'm a bit leery of the clay marring my finish. I'm not that confident in my detailing skills.

Clay can be used on windows with a quality spray detailer. I prefer the Nanoskin fine grade pad clay alternative and medium grade sponge.
