Aluminum polish and by one of two methods, take off as many of the parts as possible and power polish or by hand. It will make a huge difference.

Get you one of these setups, I had nothing but good luck with Mothers. When closing can first cover with plastic wrap. Bottom line oxidation can be removed, it is a matter of time and pressure and having polish on the nap. I have used a lot of polish by hand, but if you can always better with a drill nap, might want to get a bit extender as well. Cover hoses and wires and pull them aside best u can.
