Had a kid in my neighborhood that just bought a used 2012 Honda Civic and the red paint had seen much better days. He didn't have a lot to spend so I only did a compounding with my Girot's Garage DA polisher using 6" a 3" Meguiar's Micro Fiber Cutting pads and Meguiar's 105 cutting compound.
Started off by washing the car with dawn dish soap to remove any wax and then clayed with a Autoscrub Nanoskin mit. 105 produces a lot of dust so I wiped the panels down with IPA and cleaned my pads between every pass.
Ideally, I wish I had a rotary and a wool cutting pad as it did take up to 2-3 passes to get decent results with the DA. Overall, I was surprised at how well it finished, very little hazing and holograms.
Took me about six hours, didn't get any pics of it out in the sunlight as he had to go to work.
