My whole life up to this point has been lowered from honda & subaru to GTI. nothing a mit wouldnt solve. now with a 4" lift on a 1500, im looking for the right tools for the job, or if it's just a matter of technique. mainly the center of the hood and roof. ive always used a MF mitt and bucket with a grit guard. do i need to switch to a wand?

I wash the majority of the roof of my truck from the box. Then a work platform or stool will definitely be your best friend when it comes to the roof and potentially parts of the side. For the hood I stand on my front tires. But my truck is also a lot taller than your 1500 with a 4" lift.

This picture shows the type of step I use. I have a couple of them around; one in the garage and one in the shop just for working on my truck.

I more or less have the same strategy but use a 7' ladder to reach the front of the cab roof and center of the windshield.

I have talked with people that have bought a microfiber mop and used that on the top where they couldn't reach, and they say that the microfiber mop head does not leave any scratches if you use the 2 bucket method. IMHO I think a small stool to stand on is a better option. if your feet don't get wet and slick and you fall on your ass.

I agree. I use a wooden picnic table bench to get the top of our flex and ram.

Have the same aluminum bench stool, though it still takes me like 2 hours to clean my lifted truck.

My 2500 is stock height but is still high. I use a pressure washer and a foam cannon first then a 4' ladder to get to the fool and middle of the hood.
