So I've just recently learned about the Opti-Coat 2.0 and Pro. I'm considering doing this to my Ram. Does any one have any experience with this stuff????

Any before and after pictures and how long to expect it to last? I know they say "permanent" but is this true???

Thanks everyone!!

opti coat is a great product. but not bulletproof. it will still require a proper wash regime and some maintenance.

here is OC PRO on my black Ram.

Thanks for the input. How long have you had it on your truck in these pictures?

Awsome pics! Thanks for posting the before and after. 2 years later it still looks good! Like you said it's not bullet proof and still needs alil maintenance but what fun would it be if you never had to wash your truck again lol I love to wash and wax mine. But between 65 hours a week at work, wife, kids, and fixing things around the house, it doesn't leave me much time anymore. I'm defiantly doing it to mine now tho! Thanks again for posting the pics and giving your input. For awhile there I didn't think anyone would reply lol

Yeah Opti-Coat is a great product. Modesta is good as well.

Im not sure where you live, but if you live in Houston, my 2015 RAM will be getting either Opti-coat or Modesta next week if you want to see it in person.

OP, just to be sure, did you already do paint correction on your truck? If not, this is your most important and probably costliest step (unless you do it yourself). If you have scratches and swirl marks, all the Opti-Coat will do is seal them in there semi-permanently. Unless you're really good at polishing and buffing paint (I don't know, you could be a professional auto detailer), I'd recommend Opti-Coat PRO and have the shop do full paint correction if you have a lot of swirl marks / light scratches.

Remember, paint correction prior to being coated is KEY. Unless you go through that step first, the OC is kinda pointless. OC doesn't really add any shine or gloss, it protects the paint underneath it. If the paint /clearcoat are swirled, you will still see them with OC. If you want it to look perfect, your original clearcoat nees to look perfect 1st.

Also, there is not a lot of "slickness" to OC. I still use OC spray wax or a quick detailer to add extra gloss and slickness. But even without a topper, the water beads like no ones business. I LOVE that.

Sorry, no pics yet. Had it for 3 months on my black express. I need to wash it again before I start taking pics.

Thanks for the info...to be on the safe side I think I might just have it professionally done. That way I know it's done right lol I called a local shop that does the detail, paint correction, and the OC on large trucks for around Between $600.00- $800.00. I thought that was a little steep when I could probably do a decent job myself for under $150.00.

F.Y.I. you won't be able to do Pro on your own. It's only sold/applied through authorized detailers. Also 2.0 is a discontinued product. It has since been replaced with Optimum Gloss Coat. That you can get on your own and from what I've been reading it's fairly similar 2.0 with a bit better gloss and slickness. No concrete word yet on durability though since its so new

Good to know! Thanks for the info. I'm getting ready to change a few things on my truck. Then I was going to look into ordering it but I think I'll just take it some where and have the paint correction and have it applied professionally. I just hate to spend $700 if it's something I could do myself. But I don't have any experience in paint correction..sooo I'll leave it to the professionals lol
