Default Paint defect?
Not Ram related, but it is on my wife's 2011 Charger in bright white with only 3k miles. I washed her car and my Ram today and noticed on hers that there are flakes ALL over it that appear to small flakes of rust or something. Even when I waxed it I could feel the terry cloth "pulling" as I wiped the wax off. Not sure what exactly it is, but I'm headed to the dealer on Monday with it to see what they say. You can't see it from even a few feet away, only when you lean in to it like you are washing or waxing.

At first I thought maybe it was something that fell from the sky (somebody burning nearby or something), but when it wouldn't wash off I got curious. I thought about using a clay bar to see if it will come off and smooth the paint back out, but not sure now. I wish I could get a picture of it to show you. Maybe I'll go try, but doubt it will come out.

Here are a couple of pics. The spot below the penny is about the biggest there are, but you can also see smaller ones around the penny. It is like this all over the car. Like I said, if you step back a couple feet, you have no idea it is even there.

Rail road dust. Just claybar it. Will come off fine. If you take it to dealer that's all they'll do. Heard its pretty common on Chryslers luckily my never had any. But i regularly clay bar my truck anyways

Yup....thats what I read over on the Charger forum. Just bought a clay bar and started on the hood. Amazing what that stuff does! Not hard, just time consuming....gotta get off the computer and get my a$$ back in the garage with the clay and finish now.

Thanks!

A good claybar and the right spray wax will do wonders. After That polish her up and just watch the water bead off it!

Finished the hood in the garage and rolled her out into the sun. Saw some spot I missed as the garage obviously isn't bright enough. Done for the day.....taking the wife out for Cinco de Mayo! Will hit it again tomorrow. Will do my Ram next weekend too! Woot woot!

Please don't take it back to the dealer to do any type of paint related correction. They are lucky if their wash rack tech's know how to wash a car without leaving scratches all over it. There are plenty of people on this site and other truck and detailer sites that will be glad to help you if you don't have a lot of experience.

^^^^ Agree, as long as its not a factory defect your better off correcting this yourself. Dealer car washing =
