Hey all... Got a question I couldn't easily find an answer to on the forum. My truck has a 3-4" scratch near the passenger side door between the door an the truck bed... And it's driving me nuts. You can see it to the left of my fuel door. Question is... Body shop or a simple detail product? I want it done right and I don't mind paying, but no sense in getting screwed by the body shop for $100 when I can do it for $10?

Can't tell much from the pic but try some rubbing compound on it and see if that does anything.

Get a better pic up hard to tell. Lot of times you can clay bar all the crap out of the scratch. Then get dealer touch up paint and fill it then buff later after it dries. Body shop is probably the best bet though.

Thanks guys, I'll get a better one up when I get home from work. This app isn't great for pic upload. :/

Wash the truck, clay, cleaner, polish, wax. Tape off the scratch and use a paint touch up kit from the dealer. Let dry, then wet sand with 1200. Remove tape, and lightly buff the area where the scratch is.

Sure 1200 won't take off the clear coat though?

Theres no clear in the scratch. You only wet sand the touch up paint. Thats why you are using the masking tape.
