Oh lol... You said it like you had factual evidence, so I figured there was...

It all depends on your driving style. If you drive mostly city, unloaded you're gonna waste a **** ton of diesel going into regen. If you work the truck hard (rise in EGT's) it'll burn on it's own and not have to go into regen. Regen occurs at different frequencies for everyone depending on what the truck's used for.

I went off the beaten path yesterday - through a couple towns with stop lights/signs - my mpg dropped like a rock.

2 gallons per hundred hours is an interesting number. I'm sure that frequent idling would also increase the amount of regen time.
