Anybody know the safe areas to run your egt? Going down the road my truck runs about 800 but as soon as you go to pass someone or jump on it a little my egt's jump up to well over 1300 and have even seen 1700 in short bursts when I didn't have the edge programmed to defuel at 1350. Am I safe to set the defuel a little higher? I know that you can have short periods above 1300 in the 5.9 but haven't heard anything on the 6.7

WOW thats high IMO ..

To compare if I am running say 70 mph I will run steady 850
If I mash it I will see 1200 .

But I have 5" from turbo back and a bigger turbo .. dont know it that makes a difference
But you seeing 1700 is going to blow your head.

The guys will chime in soon ..

Welcome to RF

Welcome to the forum, 1300 is high IMO although the DPF go into active regen at 1100 to 1200 degrees
I don't think you should ever see temps of 1700 degrees

1700 is way too high.

Max we've seen on my brothers truck doing is 1200, usually peaks around 1100. That is after some hard runs. Down the road typically in the 600 range or lower. But we've found manuals run colder than autos.

DPF and EGR delete, H&S tuner, 5" turbo back and some other goodies. Measured right out of the exhaust manifold.

Running at 1-1200k is good for short times . This burns the carbon off the injectors as carbon burns at 1k deg ...

I learnt that from a mountain man

Don't want to start a you know what contest regarding programmers but it seems that the Edge might be just fueling too much to make more power. Does your truck roll coal when your foot is in it?

6.7L engines are noted for there higher than typical EGT's... I'm not sure what the limit is for the 6.7L but I know its a bit higher than the older 24V engines...

I really don't like seeing above 1,200*F... I might burst to 1,400*F but that only for a few seconds.

I'll do some searching on other sites to see if I can bring the info back here... :naughty:

The only time that I can get my truck to smoke at all is if I have it on the 175 setting which is power level 7. I have the race version of the edge juice. I normally just ride around on power level 3 and it doesn't smoke at all.

yeah, wow that is high EGT numbers. my VP44 on Edge Juice #2 will dip into the 11-1200*F range, when I'm pulling my 9000 lb trailer up the mountain at 55-60mph..
Otherwise, I rarely see anything much over 1000-1100*F, even spiritedly throttling the hell out of it ;)

But that's not a CR, either..

What's your boost pressures and RPM when at those high EGTs?
