I spotted a 1 ton dually PW on the way to work this morning. Stickers I'm just guessing? It had paper plates and power wagon decals in all the right places. Oh.. and it had a CTD.

What I was thinking as well. It just threw me off because it was a brand new Ram.. still had the paper plates.

no CTD in the pw. It would make the front end too heavy and unstable in high articulation or off camber scenarios and cause a roll over

I wouldn't say that's the whole reason, although the weight is a big part of it. They're was a PW CTD consort from mopar but it just never went any further
I think it's the weight+the complexity of the hidden whinch with intercoolers that has prevented them from putting it into production
They're are plenty of CTD with leveling kits (especially carli kits) that are wheeled pretty hard without problems

The only reason i ask is because of the paper plates. He had JUST bought the truck from the dealer.. of course that could have been the dealer saying the truck was something that it isn't.

Never stopped my 97 3500 4x4 12v EC. And I took it in places the guys I hunt with wouldn't take their little rcsb trucks or jeeps.

4x4 low with the torque of the cummins seems like it would be totally worth it. You could move sooooo smoothly lol. I would have loved a ctd power wagon option almost just for the lockers which are super useful IMO. Also, I did some interesting flexing in my 05, and never felt unstable. I think the torque would just create high risk for the drive-train, so Chrysler decided it would be too expensive for them to get a good profit return out of.

Yep - as said, no CTD or 3500 (PW is only 2500).

If I could've got a PW with a manual trans (be it gas or diesel) I would own one. Definitely. Not sure if there's enough of me around to make it profitable for Chrysler to make one.

Not sure that a diesel would need a 4.56 rear axle.

I read in TDR that chrysler also didnt do it because of turbo lag, and while offroading it is nice to have power as soon as you press the skinny down.

Nearly...

I've owned a 2010 HEMI and now a 2012 CTD and while the CTD's got some impressive responsiveness compared with the other diesels I've driven, it's not close to what the Hemi had.

Drive a powerstroke at 24k lb GCWR and it really makes you appreciate having nearly no turbo lag lol
