hey guys, its getting cold now, and we used the heat in the truck the other day. we are working with a 2005 Powerwagon, std cab, 8 foot bed. about 160k on the odometer. we recently did a waterpump and thermostat over the summer. The truck seemed to take for freaking ever for the thing to warm up. it used to take maybe 10 mins, we let it idle for about 15, and then after maybe 15 mins of driving, it FINALLY produced some heat. my father (driving) said vents were almost cold, while mine, were warm, at best. so last weekend we did a heater core flush. poured a bottle of cooling system flush into the intake of the heater core hoses, and plugged the return. we let it sit for about 20 mins, and then ran hot water through it reverse- put water through the return hose- we got a few chunks of jenk out, but not alot. so we slammed it back together, topped off the radiator and overflow. again, taking almost a half hour to get up to op. temp, it was still producing mediocre heat at best, passanger side significantly warmer again. it does this on all settings, defrost, front and floor. any ideas? in think we are going to try the flush again this weekend. the water flow seemed unrestructed as it was dumping out the hoses. we used a bottle of Castle Rad-Flo. stuff smelled pretty strong, and took paint off (we arent going to talk about that) so it should have blew through any gunk in there. any help appreciated, thanks again.
