it's the "Rubicon" of trucks. They are strictly a " Play truck" " Hunting" 4x4 trips" Their pay load is way way limited. And yes they are bad ass

article is incorrect the gearing is only 4.10 not 4.56. they used 4.56's previously with the 5.7 hemi

i would like to get ahold of some 4.56s to go in my truck..i wonder if there are ways of "power wagoning" normal 3/4 ton trucks up a little without major modification??

I believe 4.56 are standard and 4.10s are now an option.

You would have to add front and rear lockers and find some sway bar disconnects. At that point you would be close. To get the full power wagon you would need the correct coil springs and new front radius arms though, that would be the expensive part.
My master plan is to add front and rear lockers and some sort of sway bar disconnects and call it good. Swapping the coil springs out takes away half the trucks payload.

I have a power wagon and so far I love it. I got the Laramie trim. I haven't done anything too hard core with it as it's also my DD. It doesn't have the pay load and towing of the regular 2500's but it is more than adequate for my needs. I just have a 6k boat and 24' enclosed car hauler.

I climbed a pretty good hill that I would not tried in my F150. Locked up the axles and it climbed right up, no drama. I did scrape the plastic below the bumper on the way back down but it is a truck.

I'm still looking for an excuse to use the winch.

I bought my power wagon a few weeks ago. I could only find a '14 in the SLT trim but wanted the Laramie. But I was able to add the Katzkin leather, AMP steps, and spray in liner and still ended up under 50k. Stripped all the ugly vinyl and now I absolutely love it. Haven't had a chance to bury it but I'm looking forward to it. The only difference that affects payload is the different springs, but I've heard of guys adding airbags and towing over the recommended 10k w/o issues.

Had my powerwagon for 7 years till wife convinced me to trade er in. Had a decked out 07, with a few mods. But the way I look at it, I can build up my 2014 6.4 crew cab to same, if not better then a stock powerwagon.

You can put your own selectable lockers in, add a 2" lift, winch and winch bumper, and be pretty dang close to what a power wagon has to offer.

Not sure if things have changed much with em, but a few issues the Gen III's had:

1. Issues with smart bar on sway bar
2. Lockers - electronics on a lot were glitchy, plus only can use lockers in 4lo. Wish you could at least use the rear locker in 4high. Some guys were making bypasses that would trick the computer into thinking you were in 4lo so you had lockers whenever you wanted :naughty:
3. The stupid winch safety features. Finally bypassed mine. I can understand, at times why they had them.

Don't get me wrong, loved the truck and still kinda regreat getting rid of it.

That lift better come with softer springs because the stiff springs in the non power wagon 2500's are built for payload, they don't flex for anything.
