How did you manage to get the truck and trailer out of the sand? They look pretty buried.

Both the spare tire for the truck and on the tongue of the trailer were laying on the surface!

Luckily, I only broke through the 'crust' while in 2WD, fully aired up. Without anyone around, I started looking for a good boulder to grab with the winch, but none were close enough. So, I went about airing down all four tires REALLY low, with the plan to go into 4-LO, Lock em all up, and just try to churn out a little at a time with my fingers and toes crossed.

Just halfway into airing down the first tire, a good Ol Dodge feller in a 1st Gen Diesel 1 ton 4x4 (also with a winch) rolled up and offered to serve as an anchor point for the winch. Doing so, under light power, with the winch doing 90% of the work, it walked right out!!!

I was in my lawn chair at the fire pit less than 15 minutes later. That one use of the Winch alone, paid for itself 1000 times over. I would likely still be there digging.

Much Love for Winches and Old Time 'Wheelers willing to lend a hand.

I "put one back" into the Karma bank not 18 Hrs later, when I helped a family of fishermen just down the shore, who had, in similar fashion pulled up and watched their "Cross Over" AWD rig sink right down to the pan. They were really pleased. I told them "Just keep paying it forward!"

You can have the seat and wheel heater. I live in So Cal.. LOL:flipthebird: :naughty:

**** can get cold in spots out there too... was up in the Antelope Valley for 20+ years, commuting over the Angeles Crest. It can get just as cold as it does here just 15 minutes above Pasadena on occasion.

Here is what a local "road" looked like after last weekends storms. Luckily, I stayed on the packed gravel bottom, rather than tempting getting stuck in the smooth glue like mud and sand in places where it mounds up.

Smartly, the car from CA. looking to drive in the back way to do the HooDoo Trail Hike stopped where they did. The step up on the far side bank came up to my hood when I got up to it. Power Wagon = Handled. :naughty:

Wanted heated leather in the PW, but was happy to find the truck that I did.

Also wanted it in the Rubicon we just got, but went with the cloth instead with that as well.

After being out here a year and a half now, I think it better to bundle up and be ok in the cloth in the winter, as you can just vacume it off and not sweat, slide and stick to it, grinding around on all the gritty sand and dust in the summer heat.

Then again, there ARE those mornings, it sure would be nice to hit the Remote Start, and crank up all the heating goodies and jump in a toaster just sitting there ready to go....

When I bought my 2500 I went looking for a Power Wagon but I wanted a Cummins and I learned that I couldn't have both. My need for the beast pulling diesel outweighed the desire for the PW. They're great looking trucks besides what it's designed to do.

The dealer where I got it treated it like had the plague when they found it did not have the Diesel.

Personally, I don't have the need for it, or want the power dynamics or weight of it when 'Wheeling.

It having the 5.7 allowed me to get a great deal on it.... they wanted it OUT of there! :roflsquared:

I may have a bit of envy over the '14 and up 6.4L gasser, but with the "softening" of gearing to the 4.10's and addition of cylinder deactivation, I think that is about a wash... I didn't like that on my 1500 5.7.

Now, with the crazy full new coil / link / arm/ madness suspension system on the newest Power Wagons (that causes me great concern over their longevity, despite initial ride quality and perhaps small improvements in flexibility) I can say with full confidence... I am VERY pleased I got my truck just the way it is.

Rarely, if ever, in life can one say that with such conviction. :)

New Purchase of the Power Wagon 2500 6.4 2015

I just purchased the new 2015 Power Wagon, I love it so far. However I am trying to learn what I can about it. Should I do a few things to it to make it better.

1. Should I duel exhaust it from the front to the rear?

2. What do I do so I can gain a little better mileage/performance? is a turbo an option

3. Need to learn more about the truck.

I will post pictures soon.

Still pretty new to me,just picked her up a month and a half ago and still under 3,000 miles.Have not had a chance to get her out in the mud yet but did a late night run to a camp ground around 600 miles away and this thing pulled the camper great even through the blue ridge mountains.

The Rare Find

Here is my 2010 model I bought to resale. It is one bad truck. It only has 15,000 miles on it and looks brand new. I would not be selling it but I just bought a 2015 Ram 1500 Limited fully loaded and I do not need two trucks. I have a fully built off road Jeep already as well. I will post it for sale in the ad section once I have enough posts if I still have it.

Dodge has definitely gotten better since 2008.5 with their front ends switching to the beefier "t-style" linkage but it's still a floating front end don't be surprised to have issues with it. Once one thing goes out its a domino effect.
