Look's really good, I'll be doing this soon. Those are pretty welds whoever did them. 8K on the winch should be plenty considering it's a warn, I can't speak for everyone, but I've personally never had a Warn go down on me while working it.

After looking for (and not finding) a bumper with a winch mount that doesn't look like something out of Mad Max I'm willing to reveive a thread thats pretty old! Anyone still doing this or done it lately? Any manufacturer started making hidden winch plates? I love this idea.

Man that looks great, did you start with an existing mounting plate or fab that from scratch? Can we get a few more pics on the plate from say front and side? And any tips or tricks you learned?

Been wanting to do this forever its between this and a 20 inch but i would use this much more considering i have a 50 inch and 4 pods. If you could post a few more pics of how everything is mounted that would be awesome, also did you fab that mount up yourself or purchase it.?

Thanks guys. The mounting plate is one from harbor freight that the other gentlemen used. Universal Channel Winch Mount I also have the wireless winch controller from them but it isn't working so I'm going to take it back and exchange it for a new one. Wireless Winch Remote Control

Everything is fabbed up by me except the winch plate. It's welded and bolted to the 2.5" angle. As far as pictures go, I'll post all I have. But I have to take it back out soon so I can mount some lights beside the fairlead, so I'll make sure to get a bunch for you guys then.

The front end without the bumper insert thing. I haven't reinstalled this yet because I'm adding lights on both sides of the roller fair leads and it needs to be cut up to fit back.

Early stages of being put together.

And a short video of a small section of the plate being welded to the angle.

That's all I have right now but I'll get some more for you guys. If y'all have any questions just let me know.

Gotta ask this question as I really want to do this, what are your thought on cutting our chrome bumpers? My 2014 dosen't have any opening in the middle like the previous year models and I'm concerned the bumper will start flaking and whatnot. I know chrome plating itself is pretty tuff, just not sure what to do to it once you cut thru it to "clean up" the edges. Any help is appreciated!!!!

EDIT: just browsed thru the "LED pods in rear bumper (pic heavy)" thread where the guy cut into his chrome bumper........

I'm not sure about that. The less holes I have to make in the truck the better. Everybody that does put lights in the bumpers loves them, but I know cutting a hole for a fairlead is a little different. I don't think you should have a problem with the chrome flaking or anything like that. If you really wanted to make sure that didn't happen, you could get some of that clear 3M guard tape and wrap the edges with it. It would help against the rust too, but I doubt that will be a problem.

Dantheman, how far did you space it at the tow hook bolts? 1/2"?

I'm guessing you mean downwards? I tack welded an 11/32" piece to the angle and added some 10 gauge/0.1345 on top on that.

That looks awesome man. I can t quite tell but did you bolt the roller fairlead right to the winch plate or use spacers to set it farther forward? Last question (until i'm in the shop hacking away at metal) how do you access the clutch lever to spool out the cable?

The winch plate doesn't stick out through the bumper enough to bolt the fairlead straight to it. I used, I think was 2.5 or 2.25" of galvanized steel pipe to make the fairlead sit just close enough to the bumper where you can hardly tell there is a gap. I can't really access the clutch lever without crawling up under the truck. I just left the winch engaged and just spool it out with the remote.

That's a good idea I didn't think of that... I guess I'll stop work on my cable and pulley system, lol.

I don't know if it's good for it but I don't have a ton of money in the winch itself and I don't use it that often. What kind of winch are you using?

I've got a Smittybilt XRC 8,000 lb I pulled off my JK. I was thinking about adding a switch panel and hard wiring it with space for some aux lights.

I was going to take one of my 9,000 pound warns off my TJ or YJ but they actually get used regularly so I didn't want to take a chance. Let me know how the switch panel goes, I may have to borrow that idea from you haha.
