well the hood pin prevents it from starting with the hood open, on this remote start theres no safety devices in place, so if you really dont like someone, ask them to clean off the fan blade or something, then just start your truck like normal and there you go. lost one enemy

That makes sense why my wife's journey starts with hood up. I had a friend do it for me at a local business he owns and I sure he did the dball type and just added remotes for longer range and the smart start box.

I bought a hood tilt switch to add to my DBALL, but haven't had a chance to install it yet. I will when I get a warm day. It's an important safety feature.

The tilt switch? I bought a DEI 8613 alarm switch on eBay. There are some on there now for around $6-$12

so i just ordered the Directed Xpresskit Combo DBALL & CHTHD1 T-Harness w/ Firmware

how would you install that part DEI 8613 so my truck wont start when hood is up?

I haven't installed the switch yet, but if I recall correctly, one of the plugs that comes with the DBALL has wires for the switch,

after installing the remote start my alarm has randomly gone off 2 times. Could this be related? Did I need to plug in every harness to the DBALL?

You got a big pack of harness' right? none of which actually plug into it. theres only one red one i believe that gets plugged in?

Anyone have the harness clipped together? The two clips for ignition are clipped together and I can't seem to get them apart. Any suggestions?

Mine were, too. I used a small flat blade screw driver to help. Just went slow to make sure I didn't break anything. They were a tight fit...into the ignition as well.

So flat head to tab and push it in then wiggle out?

I pushed the tab with my finger and used the screw driver on the sides. I was using a small one for electronics. Once I saw it move I started wiggling it out.
