Thanks, I will give it another go later tonight. It is definitely the harder one. So close.

It's been a while since I've actually done this install. But looking at my picture. I use an awl and leverage to pull the face plate up.

Well, I finally got it loose. Did a little bit of damage, but not bad. I took pictures of the final connectors (in case of troubleshooting) and also of the i315 Connector showing where the 3 lock points are for the front plate so others know what to go after with a small jewelers' screwdriver or similar. Prying at the sides helps some too but may cause damage. See attached.

@Jeepguy_1980, the cable lengths on the two harnesses were perfect for my SLT Crew Cab (short box). I think I may have had 6 inches extra on each which was easily taken up by shifting the harnesses before tightening down all the zip ties. Good.
(I threw a bit of heat wrap tape I had around the front section of the chassis harness closest to the exhaust)

Now I just have to get the "XAC" code flashed, but no available appointments at dealer for a week and a half. Next closest dealer is 45 miles away. Not sure if they have any availability or if I should just wait. Ugh.

EDIT: For those that want to reference JeepGuy1980's original directions for his custom harnesses (pictures are in the directions):
- JpGuy 2013 DIY_add_Ram_OEM Camera_w_Video.pdf
- JpGuy DIY_Express_v2.pdf

1-25-15 Edit:
- here are 2 versions of the complete TechAuthority Oem Backup Camera Schematic for what was duplicated by Lassen's (JeepGuy1980's) harness as a reference. I have added notes/callouts to the PDF to help.

2013 Ram1500 Laramie V8 Crew OEM Camera Schematic (with Callouts)

Mpg2 2013 SLT CC V6 BACK-UP-CAMERA-SYSTEM Diagram - NewStyle

The trick with each "trim level" apparently was to figure out what wires/pins were missing by looking at each connector or comparing your trucks Vin/schematic on the Tech Authority page to the above schematic.

2/3/15 Edit (partial connector pin part numbers)
Here is the pin part numbers for the C1 Radio connector courtesy of cptwing in case anyone decides to research the rest of the connector pins to recreate Jeepguy1980's harnesses in the future ...
This should get you there the connector takes 2 size pins 2.8mm and 0.64mm. It is manufactured by Tyco electronics, part of their TE Connectivity line. The smaller pins are required for the back up camera.

Here is the connector
776932-1 TE Connectivity / AMP | Mouser

Here are the 0.64 pins
638551-3 TE Connectivity | Mouser

Here are the 2.8mm pins
1326030-2 TE Connectivity / AMP | Mouser

Your Welcome

5/24/15 Edit (partial connector pin part numbers)
Here are some recent posts from the 5.0 to 8.4AN radio upgrade thread about the crimp tools being used which may work for those unwilling to fork over $200 for the correct crimper.
For anyone wanting to make their own harness, I used this crimper D-Sub Pin Crimper - Radioshack and it worked perfectly for all the pins.
I believe that is the same mass produced, made in China, crimp tool as the one I use for my Arduino's "Dupont style" 2.54mm pins. It can be found on eBay using a search for "SN-28B crimping tool" for +/- $15. Not sure how well it will work with the harness adapter pins.

The official Amp/TE Connectivity "Pro Crimper III" tool is likely upwards of around $210 at Newark or Mouser.
Manufacturer: TE CONNECTIVITY / AMP
Newark Part No.: 44F8409 (LINK)
Manufacturer Part No 58495-1

Thanks, for the input on the crimp tools, I will definitely have to get one of those. But, last night I did a little research and I'm pretty sure I was able to find all the part numbers for the pins and seals (not positive that the seals are 100% correct, but I think they will work). The part numbers I looked up where only for the pins that would need to be added to the Mopar kit (mopar kit's wire harness comes with the pins for the connector by the tailgate and the pins that go into the radio connector.)

So anyway this is what I found:

NOTE: I do NOT take any responsibility for the accuracy of these part numbers, modify your vehicle at your own risk.

ALL PARTS are manufactured by YAZAKI and they are their YESC product line

White Connector Under Steering Column (I315)
Parts:
• Connector Terminal PN: 7116-4100-02
o Quantity: 3

Body Connector Under Driver's Side Door (I220)
Parts:
• Connector Terminal (1.5mm) PN: 7116-4102-02
o Quantity: 4

• Connector Terminal (2.8mm) PN: 7116-4150-02
o Quantity: 1

• Terminal Seal (2.8mm) PN: 7158-3111-60
o Quantity: 1

• Terminal Seal (1.5mm) PN: 7158-3030-50
o Quantity: 4

Now the next challenge will be finding where to buy these parts and then trying it out.

2/9/15 Edit:
Here are the current Ram/Chrysler OEM kit directions (and P/N's) for adding the factory Parkview Camera to 2013-2015 Ram Trucks depending on your Trim Level/radio i.e. Express/RA1 vs rest/RA2,RA3,RA4. The directions for these OEM Kits are slightly different from the factory wiring/JeepGuy1980's harness (which duplicated the missing factory wires).

- PN 82213752 (RA1 Radios w/o RSP, adds Mirror as Monitor, i.e. Express)
$525 parts/$765 installed at dealership
K6861692 2013 Ram1500 ParkView Cam w Mirror Monitor noMic PN 82213752

- PN 82214240 (RA2, RA3, RA4 Radios as monitor)
$300 parts/$507 installed at dealership
K6862043 2013-2015 Ram Parkview Cam w RA2 RA3 RA4 Radio Monitor PN 82214240

I have to say I still don't get it. thanks to you guys for valuable information but it seems to me that there must be a million combinations of options available and I sincerely doubt each has their own harness and even if it did then buying the harness from Chrysler dealer parts should be possible. How is it possible for a factory wiring harness not to exist at the dealer level.

it would seem to me that Sergio marchionne should know that the easier the install at the factory level with the fewest combinations of harnesses that need to be produced should produce the best profit margin and quality.

Anyway thanks for all you guys do to make a camera installation possible. Will try my hand at it in the not too distant future and am hoping that the information already posted will make my efforts easier.

Factory level wiring does exist at the dealer, if you want to replace the entire chassis and cab harnesses. Each harness is about $400. I would estimate about 3 man hours for the chassis harness to be replaced and 6 to replace the cab harness.

That would put the total cost for the camera in the $2300 ball park. Which is probably more than most people want to spend.

Thanks a lot Jeepguy! Got my back up camera working today. The harness I bought from you, the instructions you provided and all your technical advice are greatly appreciated. I highly recommend other Ram owners patronize your business. Thanks!

I like the work you have done on getting this resolved and this isn't an indictment of your work but just an observation from someone who used to work in the assembly plant. the staggering number of combinations of options would lead to many incarnations of harnesses and standardizing them would seem to me to be the smart thing to do. I assume that is the reason for the grouping of options so that it makes in part the selection of correct wiring harnesses a little easier.

Plus it would make for a happier bunch of owners when they found that addition of options after the fact could be accomplished with oem parts at a reasonable price... I am sure that I am not the only one that is looking for options to add to their vehicle that they might have ordered but didn't want to wait the 6-12 weeks for that vehicle to be delivered.

In my case a backup camera isn't essential and if it were there are countless aftermarket options that are easier to install but I prefer to keep the factory look of my vehicle as much as is possible. For instance I have ordered the upper glove box kit because I like the look of it better than that open space.....dealer told me that option was only available on the slt and higher models which would have cost me far more than the 200 that I spent on the kit.

At the end of the day I will be ordering your harness and attempting to complete the installation when the weather gets a little nicer up here in Canada...remains to be seen how successful I will be with it so I am sure there will be more posts and perusing of past posts before the camera is operational in my vehicle.

At the risk of sounding stupid

Jeepguy on your site you have listed crew cab short mid and long box..any dimensions with that??? A bit of guessing game up here as the express doesn't exist in name....I assume that the st and sxt equate to the express in the states. I assume the 6'4" would be the mid length box???

Found this in the 4th gen tech info section.
Full line wiring along with all the specs for your ram. Its a PDF file that you click through to find your year along with any info your checking for.

http://www.rambodybuilder.com/year.pdf
There is a section for the 5 various truck boxes HERE that lists all the dimensions and model info (Rambox avail. on short/mid boxes).
It requires internet/adobe/PC to work correctly so i cant verify from my phone. You cant really save the whole thing like an interactive pdf catalog but you can save individual pages.

5'7" = short box (65.1"/1653.5mm Interior length) -
6'4" = Mid box (73.8"/1874.6mm Interior length)
8'0" = Long Box (95.8"/2433.4mm interior length)

Finally got the dealer to flash my truck ($49) and everything works as it should (2013 Ram 1500 SLT v6 Crew). Awesome. Thanks Jeepguy1980!

Everyone who has successfully done this should be bumping up Jeepguy's vendor rating (see here).

Can't tell from my phone but if the forum supports adding a "Poll" to see how many people have added the camera with your kit that would be cool.

Have to laugh while checking uconnect site for radio update information (connect 5.0) I noticed that it says that radio will support park view camera but it cannot be added later......apparently you guys should tell the powers that be that it can indeed be added later...on a side note typical software updates.....many owners who have been updating their connect software are reporting that the radio ceases to work with the software update......so I think I will forgo doing mine right away until more feedback becomes available.

I'm still unclear if I need the second harness or not. I have a 2014 Tradesman/Sportsman Crew Cab/Hemi that is pretty base (no homelink, no turn signal mirrors, cloth interior) with the uconnect 5, power windows/locks.

Also, I called my local dealer and they want $105 which is not bad but just curious how some are getting it done for under fiddy. Top work and thanks to everyone that has shared their thoughts and installs.

I've ordered all the parts including the harness from Ramharness. Just waiitng for everything to arrive. Made an appt at the dealer tomorrow for an oil change and asked about adding the XAC code. The girl I spoke to said I would have to talk to a service rep in the morning. Wish me luck! haha.

You just need to order the kit from AllMoparParts.com and the harness from my website, for your truck.

You will have 3 harnesses, just like everyone else. One in the tailgate, one in the chassis, and one behind the radio.

Hello, new member here.

I have a 2014 Ram Outdoorsman. Unfortunately mine was right off the lot and didn't have the back-up camera installed, which would be a great help when hooking up our trailer.

Some have mentioned similar roadblocks already, but basically the dealer tells me that I can have the hard parts installed, but that the programming for the 8.4 screen hasn't been released, so they can't make the camera display on the dash.
I'm told it may never be released, but they are hoping to see something later in the year.
This may be the issue with jdogbyo's install in an earlier post.

Also contacted Dodge who basically replied to say they couldn't tell me anything and that any updates would be released to the dealer (they've never been the most helpful bunch at Dodge head office).

I'm very curious to know if anyone has figured this out.
Does anyone have any experience with a completed install on a 2014 Ram using the 8.4 screen?

My only alternative is to have a different rear view mirror installed with the camera in it. And I would really prefer to stick with an OEM setup.

Thanks all!

Thanks all!

I call BS on this. Because I had a 2014 2500 as a loaner that had the 8.4 display and it had both cameras in it the one in the Tailgate handle and the one in the cab break light. And the one in the Tailgate handle displayed on the screen of the 8.4 radio. The 8.4 radio will do way more than the 5.0 and I know I can do the kit on my 2014 2500. It came from the factory pre-wired. Jeepguy_1980 has a kit for the 2014's already.

Edit: Your dealership is just being a ******* and doesn't know what they are talking about.

Thanks all!

Break it down real simple for them. Ask them to add sales codes "XAC" to your VIN and re-flash the BCM. They don't have to understand why or what they're doing, as long as they do that.
