Are you sure you are trying to update with 2015 software?
Yes. I used the VIN from the truck it came from, which was a 15. I don't have the exact version with me, but it was definitely a 15 revision.

I wouldnt put much faith in the vin numbers boneyards send. 9 times out of 10 they aren't right.

Perhaps some people who know without a doubt that they have a particular year radio can post all the pn's and details off the back of their radios.

- 2013 8.4AN (RA4/VP4 NA, p/n)
v.XX
v.XX
etc.

- 2014 8.4AN (RA4/VP4 NA, p/n)
v.XX
v.XX
etc.

- 2015 8.4AN (RA4/VP4 NA, p/n)
v.XX
v.XX
etc.

Lost Nav Udate

Just talked to navrepair.com about what's happening to us who have lost nav by updating the system software. He thinks he may be able to help and possibly determine why it's happening.

As soon as my replacement gets to me, I'll be sending mine to him to take a crack at it. Will cost me a few bucks but might help someone down the road. Will post back later with the news, good or bad! :naughty:

I'm guessing they have the full software suite and can completely load the entire operating system from scratch, whereas the downloads we get from useless connect are just a series of patches and hotfixes, that apparently sometimes do not install correctly.

What I would be interested in if they can install or enable the Via mobile apps. I have 2 of the 4 weird I know. And I hate to sound like a pest but I really like them and the sound quality is better than the XM and as good as the HD! (my opinion and it does not cut in and out like XM)

I honestly believe they can and for them it would be fairly simple. I just think maybe they won't because Fiat or Uconnect won't let them.

Well , found an 8.4" Bezel for sale here on the form , via PM from the seller I found out its a (single zone) NOT SURE WHAT THE DIFF IS ?

Would I still need the heater module ?

I have a 2014 with 7 speed blower , with a full RA2 Upgrade with audio controls now .

I have the conversion harness coming from getupkid, and a heater control module coming from redintex, I need :::a bezel radio RA3/RA4 and 911 delete plug . Do I need anything else ?

Thanks for any response guys !

No that should do it. The single zone is the one you want and yes you still need the heater module . You can use the dual zone but the passenger side controls will not work so most people prefer the single zone. I saw that bezel for sale on the forum. Looks like a nice piece.

No problem:):I have learned a ton on this forum.as well. It's a great tool to access knowledge and other ideas. I recommend trying to swing an RA4 if you can find one for a price that works for you when it's time to buy your radio.

Yes this forum is full of very knowledgeable people, who in spite of all the stupid things we say and do, and even when we choose to ignore the all knowing, self anointed service writing Gods. We manage to figure a thing or two out, I know I am just a stupid customer that says stupid things and knows nothing, guess I got lucky.

It must be my tin foil Hat!

I am doing the 4 speed fan to 7 speed fan conversion. I have all the other parts with the exception of the 7 speed resistor module that seems to lost in the mail that I am trying to track down.

The question I have is there any risk installing everything else to include the modified harness, 7 speed heater control module and using the 4 speed factory resistor module until I get my 7 speed resistor module?

If the 4 speed resistor is a higher ohm resistor it wouldn't burn anything up ;however, if it's a lesser ohm resistor I would not .
I'm not real clear on how that's tied in , I'd wait on your lost one .

The plugs are different if I remember right. Also when you hook up everything else the current harness plug to the resistor and motor will be dead. You couild just hook up everything but the resistor and the motor, leaving the 132 connector alone until you get the resistor. You just will not have any havc controls.

You also could leave your current hvac controls plugged in and they would still work only no place to mount them. If you set them to a comfortable setting and left them there tucking them inside the dash until your resistor turned up.

Personally I would just wait until it shows up. Rather than have to pull things apart twice.

Like said above they are different plugs. About the only thing you could do is run the wiring but then you are pulling everything apart twice which isn't too bad but more work than needs to be done.

Alright folks, I started a new thread to try and gather 8.4AN Fw related info:

INFO - 2013, 2014, 2015 8.4AN FW Notes (RA4/VP4 NA)

Please, anyone with previous firmware files stop by, post, and/or PM me so that I can get prior firmware files and information on your particular radio.

I am very interested in getting actual P/N's off the back of the radios for each 8.4AN year's model (this will help with verifying what we purchase from various vendors and matching correct FW). Anyone with a factory installed 8.4 AN from 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 that is willing to help verify some of these details, thanks in advance.

I guess when it rains, it pours.

Got the resistor in and went to install everything and the HVAC controller was dead on the CAN bus.

Found the 4 speed to 7 speed conversion harness was open on pins 1 and 3 on the small connector going to the HVAC controller.

Now I have to do a return and wait for replacement. Getting real close to just throwing my hat in and selling off the other stuff.
