I had an 1800 watt amp to install for my subs but I couldn't find anywhere to install it. Wouldn't fit under the seats, or in any logical spot behind the seats because it was so long. So I got a little creative and took some pics.

***NOTE*** This requires you follow my folding rear seats DIY first, located in this forum.

After I got the rear seats folding down, I identified the best spot to mount; the lower left corner looking at the back seats because there was no seat belt or power window motor there (or whatever else is behind the rear seat liner). Firstly, remove the rear liner by taking off the child seat loops and unsnap the plastic clips from the rear wall.

I cut the rear liner with a serrated pocket blade and fit the amp on the rear wall. I assumed those truck bed vents would help with airflow for the amp. Still no clue what they are for, but been on every truck.

I needed clearance to get over the vent thing so I ran to Home Depot and picked up a square dowel, and a 1x3 baluster. Cut both down to size and screwed them together, pre-drill your holes!

Drilled them into the back of the cab in the same spot I fitted the amp to, pre-drill your holes!

Then used wood screws(pre-drill your holes!) to attach the amp to the wooden brackets.

I didn't take anymore pics since it got dark, but the rest is pretty self explanatory.

-Run power along the driver side through the firewall grommet from the battery around the back wall to the amp.

-I removed the rear seat again for this, but sanded down some of the rear wall and used a self tapping screw for the ground, ground is about a foot long... solid.

-Ran the remote wire from the amp to a blue/pink wire under the driver seat in a gray harness and was able to use all the existing holes under the seat carpeting.

-Run all speaker wire and RCA along the passenger side as not to interfere with the audio signal.

I'm here to help with your install if you need. I have 20+ years of installer experience so feel free to ask any questions.

What subs are you powering with that and where did you put them? Looks great! I think the louvers are there to help equalize pressure inside when the doors are shut.

The subs are Kicker 05c104 10's, 150 RMS each. Nothing fancy but someone gave me this Probox so I figured it was time to install it. The amp is a 5 channel, 1800w in the pic.

Do you guys notice an increase in road noise when cutting/removing the rear insulation? It seems that removing the padding behind the seat would allow a lot of road noise to enter the cab.

Since I only removed the small part behind the amp, and then the amp went over that area, I don't think it was any different for me. It's not super thick padding.

As long as the seat is in place you don't have any difference in road noise. I removed that padding a long time ago to install my amps and if you add some vibration dampener to the back wall (like you should do anyways) there's zero difference. When my rear seat was out the worst sound you hear is the vents fluttering while going down the road but with them in there's nothing.

I mounted my amp directly over the vents.... Built in air cooling!

Are guys mounting your blocks, that hold your amps, with screws to the cab or adhesives? If you are screwing the blocks down, how long are the screws your using?

I mounted 2 MDF rails to the back wall with construction adhesive then my main panel attached to that. Been going strong for 3 years with 3 amps on it.

I like that route much better. I was going to go that direction but wanted to see what others had/have done; glad i waited. Thanks for the speedy response...
