So I already have emergency flashers in place of my reverse lights and my reverse lights drilled into the bumper, and I decided it was time to install a second set of rear facing emergency flashers. I do a lot of roadside assistance so I used amber/white.
The flashers are $40 each and work well for what I need. Bright enough and easy to install:
FLUX Bolt Emergency Vehicle LED Hideaway / Surface Mount Strobe Warning Light (Amber/White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CIG9E9Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_TK4Vxb58M0A01
I'll try to outline what I did in steps and attach pics as relevant. I didn't take pics the entire time, as I was trying to hurry and get out of the Texas sun [emoji91]
1. Remove 3rd Brake Light(2 Phillips screws) and disconnect single connector to truck.
2. Drill a 1" hole(2nd pic) in the side of the housing next to the existing light, as far over as possible as to stay away from the existing bulb seat. It's a close fit but it works (1st pic) Take caution to shake all of the drilled plastic out of the housing(maybe that's my OCD, 3rd pic).
3. You may need a knife to trim the plastic in some parts depending on what kind of 1" blade you use. Insert the flasher in the newly drilled hole with the rubber grommet first and then align the two screw holes so they both will go into the housing.
4. Repeat for the other side.. drill the hole, shake out the plastic, and attach the other flasher.
5. Run the wires through the brake light hole and let them come out of the ceiling straight down. I opened my rear window for this so I could do everything from the bed of the truck. If you push the wiring straight down, it will separate the ceiling liner as minimal as possible. Pull the wires all the way through into the truck and reinstall the brake light.
6. I had to remove the hook on the back wall to allow the ceiling liner to come off enough to run the wires and the control module along the roof line. Also while you have your tools in hand, grab a flathead and torx driver and pry open/remove the plastic clip at the top of the rear pillar.
7. Run the wires under the ceiling liner and down the rear pillar to the floor and under the kick panel on the floor. You're going to want to try and remove or lift up as much as possible the kick panel on the driver side floor because that's about where your wires will end.
8. I used a torx driver to remove the floor pocket too because it let me lift up the carpet more and work under there. Attach the green wires(sync) together, the black wires (ground) and the red wires(power).
9. Put a single ring terminal on the black and use a self tapping screw and drill into the body under the floor. I used heatshrink on the green to cover them and hid them away. Connect the two red to a single wire about 10 feet long and feed that towards the driver seat, you'll get to that soon. Now the white wire is for programming the flash pattern so you'll need to get to them any time you want to change the pattern, so I used two small wire caps and put them away also. Tuck all the wiring under the carpet or under the rear of the kick panel, but don't put it all back together yet. In the pic, you can see the heat shrunk wires, ground, capped wires and wire tap on the power (explained later).
10. The power wire at the driver seat in my case, ran to an already existing accessory switch. I have the switch next to the steering wheel, but that wire goes to some sort of switch to allow you to toggle the lights on/off. It should be any basic switch, one wire to battery, one to ground and the third to that single wire you ran in the previous steps.
11. Once you have the power wire ran, turn them on and test them. It's hard to tell with the way the light was hitting but they're going.

12. To change the pattern, you need touch the white wire to a power source for a second. Each time you touch the white wire to power, it will change the flasher pattern. It will outline it more in detail in the instructions with the light. I installed a wire tap(see on the left side of the pic in step 9) so I could tap into the power for later programming(they have to be on for power to be on the red wires to touch to the white). I kept switching the pattern and checking the lights but it'll be much easier if you're in your garage or do it when you're able to see the flash pattern reflecting off something so you don't have to walk to the back of the truck each time.
I'd be happy to help answer any questions, or take more pics if need be. Hope this helps, happy modding!
